Have you tried installing a system based on SAP NetWeaver on Oracle ASM and/or Oracle 12c?

Have you noticed that SWPM asks to create orasid user during the database instance installation?

Should orasid user be created?

I have seen some questions related to that very often. The answer for that is:

Yes, orasid still must be installed on your system.

I know, I know, oracle user is the responsible user for Oracle software, so why does orasid still exist?

The orasid user is needed for the SAP hostctrl. So, SWPM always created in an ASM and/or 12c environment both users: oracle and orasid.

The oracle user is the owner of the Oracle software and also the owner of the oracle datafiles.

The orasid user has the correct environment (ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_HOME). Then, you do SQL*plus connection with this user.

You can find further details in the Installation Guide' section "Creating Operating System Users and Groups > Operating System Users and Groups > Table SAP System Users and Groups".

Hello Henrique

In the new SWPM Manual (Document Version: 2.3 - 2016-02-16) for ABAP / Unix (Netweaver 7.1 to 7.5) the Membership of the os users to the Groups has changed:

I think that`s wrong. Your Version is correct.

Can you check this issue? Thank you.

Kind regards,

Joe
