For Cloud agent version change management details, refer to SAP Note 3264839.

Release Highlights

Dashboard and Story Design

Turn on Advanced Mode to Enhance Story with Advanced Features

In wave 2023.03, we delivered the unification of stories and analytical application in the Optimized Story Experience. Learn more in this blog post.

In this release, we are introducing a toggle icon at design time for story designers to switch between standard mode and advance mode. This will enable users to start building the story in standard mode, and then switch to the advanced mode to leverage more advanced features such as scripting and eventing, CSS, advanced widgets, etc. A tooltip will be shown when advanced mode it turned on or off.

This is available for users assigned the Application privilege.

Display Integration Variance Label with Base Label

Integrated Variance Labels can now be displayed together with Base Labels to provide a more predictable location of the Base Labels and Integrated Variance Labels in a Bar Chart:

  • When adding a variance to a Bar Chart, there is a new configuration option to display Integrated Variances Labels with Base Labels

  • Integrated Variance Labels are shown outside of each bar and follows the positioning of the Base Label

  • When the configuration option is enabled, Integrated Variance Labels can now be shown in percentage or both number and percentage

This is available exclusively in the Optimized Story Experience.

Show/Hide Totals and Display New Totals in Stacked Visualizations

Story Designers can now show/hide Totals and display Net Totals, which provides additional insights about aggregations for stacked visualizations:

  • There is an ability to show/hide the Total for Stacked Bar/Column Charts, Combination Stacked Bar/Column Charts, and Marimekko Charts

  • Net Totals (sum of positive and negative values) can be enabled in the Styling Panel for Stacked Bar/Column Charts and Combination Stacked Bar/Column Charts

  • There are separate styling and contextual formatting options for Totals and Net Totals via the Styling Panel

This is limited to Stacked Visualizations and excludes Stacked Bar/Column Charts with Show as 100% enabled. This is available exclusively in the Optimized Story Experience.

Data Integration

Comment Widget Support for BW/BPC live data

In wave 2023.03 we introduced support for data point commenting for BW/BPC live data. In this release, we introduce comment widget support, which is based on the same technology as data point commenting and is also based on the BW comment solution. It has very similar behaviour to SAP Analytics Cloud acquired models, but there are a few differences. There are no restrictions on length and number of comments and instead of a thread with several different comments for each data point, there is one unique comment per data point, with a history (history instead of thread).

Enterprise Planning

Multi Actions: Enhancement to Support Arbitrary Public API (Field Mapping)

In the multi actions API step, users can now configure the fields mapping when requesting a response status. This allows user to overwrite the default fields in the response body.

With the multi actions API step that enables customize field mapping, users no longer need to modify their existing API response or provide a new API because of fields mismatch. Now, they can map the fields in the API step directly, making API steps more robust and flexible to use.

Mobile Analytics

SAP Analytics Cloud Android App – Catalog Feature Support

The Catalog is now supported on the SAP Analytics Cloud mobile Android app, closing feature parity with iOS. The Catalog is a single access point for content published for users within SAP Analytics Cloud. A Catalog tab will be added to the home page and see a list of catalog items. Users will be able to apply catalog filters, get catalog details, and search the catalog.

SAP Analytics Cloud iOS App – App Configuration for Delegating

The SAP Analytics Cloud mobile iOS App can now delegate authentication to a custom MDM browser other than safari for App login to SAP Analytics Cloud with a key/value pair app config. This is in-line with other app config parameters that the app supports. This is supported for Microsoft Intune’s and VM Workspace ONE only.

Configuration keys are as follows:

  • For AirWatch browser

    • Configuration Key: authenticationURLScheme

    • Configuration Value: awbs

  • For Microsoft Intune Edge browser

    • Configuration Key: authenticationURLScheme

    • Configuration Value: microsoft-edge-https

Microsoft Office Integration

Handle Overlapping Content and Allow Several Models per Sheet

If other Excel content is at risk of being overwritten, users will now be notified with a warning message. This provides more flexibility in letting users continue with the overwrite or can crop the table until the other content (Excel or add-in content). Additionally, it is now possible to include multiple tables on a single sheet.

This feature is available to customers as of February 8th, 2023.

Frontend Calculations and Formatting

Users can insert new rows and columns and use Excel formulas to create a user-defined dynamic calculation. These formulas can only be defined for a complete column or row, not per cell. Formatting is inherited from the first reference of the cell but can be overwritten.

This feature is available to customers as of February 8th, 2023.

GET DATA Formula Improvements

The SAP.GETDATA formula allows users to build completely customized layouts. Previously, it required the model to be inserted as a table in a sheet. Now, the SAP.GETDATA formula can be used independent of a table. Users can simply add a data source to the formula.

This feature is available to customers as of February 8th, 2023.
