The server for user administration is the option of centrally managing users and group memberships in Tricentis Test Automation for SAP. However, the actual permissions are still set in the Tosca Console directly in the respective project. This block describes how user management and assigning groups and projects works. The installation is done as described in block Tricentis Test Automation Server for SAP - Install... - SAP Community.

After starting the service website, you can select the user administration server.

User Administration

The users can either be created and configured locally or obtained via “Active Directory” connections. In addition, SSO settings are also possible.

The local attachment works by inviting the user by e-mail or by self-registration.

The prerequisite for this is that correct data is stored for a mail server in the gateway server setting.

As soon as the users have been created, they can be viewed and managed using user administration. Administration includes changing the username, setting a new password, deactivating, activating and deleting users. There is also a search function and when you select a user, the assigned groups are displayed.

This makes easy and efficient user management possible. Since only a small number of employees usually work with Tricentis Test Automation for SAP, these functions should be sufficient.

Groups in Tricentis Test Automation for SAP

Different groups can be created and users can be assigned to these groups to map different access rights in the project. The groups can be structured hierarchically, that is, a group can belong to another group as a child and/or itself as a parent group can contain one or more child groups.

Users can be assigned to one or more groups.

I will describe the exact use of groups in the project in a separate block post.

In group management, you can create or delete groups with name and description. In addition, it can be assigned to child groups and parent groups.

Users can also be assigned on this place.

A link to “Project Administration” is used to assign the groups to projects.

With the group assignment and the option of inheriting group memberships using a parent-child relationship, there is a simple and powerful tool for using these groups for authorization checks in Tricentis Test Automation for SAP.

To ensure that the groups and users are also visible in the project after the assignment, they must be synchronized by an administrator in the Tosca Commander.

All groups and associated users that are assigned to the project are then available.

Conclusion

User administration provides a simple and efficient tool for centrally managing users and groups. This reduces the effort required in the project, allowing central user administration for several projects.
