In the framework of SAP HANA tailored data center integration we plan to open more and more SAP HANA layer components.
The first layer component was the storage: SAP HANA tailored data center integration for Enterprise Storage served already more than 50 customers during a pilot program and is planned to be generally available in Q4/2013.
The second layer component is the network: SAP HANA tailored data center integration for Enterprise Network pilot program will start in Q4/2013.
What is in it for you as SAP HANA customer?
In a nutshell we are talking about a bunch of different network segments. The data source connection per node, the application connection, the internodes connection, storage connection and last but not least the client connection.
You will gain the possibility to re-use your existing 10 Gbit/s network infrastructure for SAP HANA hardware landscapes.
Requirements like separated, dedicated 10 Gbit/s or even more powerful connections between the SAP HANA nodes in scale out solutions are key to run SAP HANA properly and to get the Enterprise Network supported for SAP HANA setups by SAP.
The learning’s during our pilot phase will turn into a reference description and best practice guide to give our customer the flexibility and the knowledge to introduce SAP HANA systems smoothly and cost efficient into their data center.
Background on SAP HANA tailored data center integration
The SAP HANA Appliance delivery is easy and comfortable, but of course it might introduce some limitations regarding hardware flexibility and may require changes to established IT operation processes.
That’s the reason why we decided to offer an additional approach besides the SAP HANA appliance delivery.
SAP HANA tailored data center integration is a more open and flexible approach to serve customer needs regarding the integration of SAP HANA in their data center.
SAP HANA tailored data center integration offers customers more openness and freedom of choice to configure the SAP HANA layer depending on their existing data center layout. Stay within your IT budgets, shorten SAP HANA implementation cycles and allow a better consumption of hardware innovations.
Besides the benefits of SAP HANA tailored data center integration you should also keep in mind that there are tasks and prerequisites which have to be undertaken by the customer.
Server - Only servers listed in the SAP HANA Product Availability Matrix are supported. For more information,
see SAP HANA Enterprise 1.0 SAP HANA Platform 1.0 Product Availability Matrix.
Configuration adjustments like:
Storage – All storage devices must have successfully passed the SAP HANA Hardware Certification. For more information, see SAP HANA Hardware Certification or contact HWC@sap.com.
SAP HANA Installation -The exam “SAP Certified Technology Specialist (Edition 2013) – SAP HANA Installation” (E_HANAINS131) needs to be successfully passed to perform SAP HANA installations. For more information, see SAP Training and Certification Shop.
