SAPPHIRE NOW and ASUG Annual Conference are getting closer and closer. Therefore I want to provide some additional insights on the SAP Active Global Support Center which will be located in the Services & Support Area. As I have told you in one of my previous blogs, the AGS Center will feature six key topics. One of them is SAP Solution Manager and today I want to specifically focus on that one.
SAP Solution Manager can be very powerful if it is leveraged in the right way. It addresses your entire IT environment including all the processes, tools, services, and an organizational model to manage SAP and non-SAP solutions throughout the complete application lifecycle. At least this will be the case if you sign an SAP Enterprise Support contract (or PSLE, and SAP MaxAttention). For SAP Standard Support customers there are certain limitations.
SAP Mentor tom.cenens has recently posted a nice blog summarizing and explaining the different usage rights. I sat together with some colleagues and we wanted to come up with one simple picture to show this difference and here it is:
Of course this is kind of a simplification because as Tom writes: “Customers on SAP Standard Support are limited to use SAP Solution Manager 7.1 functionality which existed in SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1.” And of course what applies in my picture for SAP Enterprise Support is also valid for PSLE and SAP MaxAttention. But I think you still get the overall idea of that chart: SolMan 7.1 is fully included with SAP Enterprise Support which means more value! This is also highlighted in the following slide that we created. This example illustrates the usage of SAP Solution Manager for end-to-end support of documented business processes:
If you’re interested to learn more about the latest & greatest features of SAP Solution Manager 7.1, such as the management dashboards or the new monitoring and alerting infrastructure, then please come visit us at the SAP Active Global Support Center at SAPPHIRE NOW. We will have set up one dedicated expert table on SAP Solution Manager where you can check out all the fresh innovation. We will also offer a couple of demo theatre sessions on SAP Solution Manager at our booth.
In case you are not able to join the SAPPHIRE NOW event onsite please have a look at our website www.sapsupport.info. There we have a special section for SAP Solution Manager which includes generic background information, access to a free [!] live [!] demo system, and newly embedded videos.
