Journey is Soon to Start
This is my first blog entry for SAP Social Sabbatical project. Count down to my social sabbatical project has started. Feb 7 is when I am off to Manila to work with my organization with 3 SAP colleagues for 1 month. In this first blog, I would like to explain a bit about this program.
What is SAP Social Sabbatical?
In today's globally integrated economy, the most successful leaders are global citizens who understand and effectively collaborate with people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
The SAP Social Sabbatical is a unique, short-term assignment for SAP’s key talents who work in highly diverse, international teams to solve business challenges for the education and entrepreneurial sector in emerging markets, while strengthening their leadership competencies, cross industry sector know-how and intercultural sensitivity.
Why am I doing this?
Social Sabbatical is very important for me because I think world needs to know even more strongly these days that there are people who can love others and do good for others without expecting nothing more than a smile. It is a challenge I am willing to take to know I can truly act selflessly. Lastly, and more importantly, along the way I truly want to help and make a difference for the organization I will volunteer for. I want to have a magical story I can share with my kids one day so they can repeat this. Think of it from this perspective. I will be in a country I had never been to working for an organization I have never known before with colleagues I have never collaborated before from different parts of the world. Isn't that amazing!
