Starting with SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.5 SP22, SFSF, SFTP, OData adapters and the PGP module become part of the standard shipment – there will be no need to deploy them separately anymore.

Originally, both add-ons were created as release independent. Since beginning of 2021 SAP NetWeaver Process Orchestration 7.5 is the only release in mainstream maintenance, with all other releases being in customer-specific maintenance. This makes the need for release independence obsolete, and we deiced to bring the adapters into the standard. All new features now go to the standard shipment. But the functional patches and of course the security patches will continue to be shipped for the add-ons for another year.

With this step we can now ship correction and new features with each NetWeaver Support Packages.

With the merge with the standard shipment we included the SFTP adapter and the PGP Modul in the existing XIAF (SAP_XIAF*.SCA ) software component. For the OData and SFSF Adapter a new Software Component is introduced – called XIAFCON (SAP_XIAFCON*.SCA).  This was necessary because of dependencies to the library. The old Software Components will be removed automatically at the SP Stack Update.

The ESR content of SFSF, SFTP and OData adapters is now located under the SAP_BASIS software component. You must use the content from this software component when creating new channels. But for all running configuration you do not have to change the Software Component in the Channel. If you like to do it – it is also possible without losing any value in the channel configuration.

For more technical information – please look at the online documentation. You will find it in the Adapter Configuration Chapter.

And we have created two FAQ notes:

Hi Elke! Thanks for the interesting blog. Does that change include changes in the licensing terms as well? As far as I know since today the B2BAdd-on is only included in the PO and NOT in the PI licensing package ...

Thx, Andy

Hi Andy,

the B2B Add-on is still an Add-on.
This is only true for the PI Connectivity and the SFTP and PGP Add-on.

Hi Elke,

Thanks for the interesting blog.
We would like to patch our PI/PO system NW7.5 SP06 to SP22.
The following add-ons are also installed.
-PI B2B Add-On 1.0 SP4
-PI SFTP PGP Add-On 1.0 SP4

In the maintenance planner we can only find possible update of the PI-B2B from 1.0 to 2.0 SP01.
Only version 1.0 SP05 is offered for PI-SFTP-PGP.
Is the combination of PI-B2B Add-On 2.0 and PI-SFTP-PGP Add-On 1.0 the same as what you describe in your article?
Is the combination of B2B Add-On 2.0 and PI-SFTP Add-On 1.0 even allowed or do I have to keep version 1.0 for PI-B2B.
I would be grateful for a brief explanation.

Best regards,

Hi Cengiz,

with NW 7.5 SP 22 the SFTP PGP Add-on is included. You don’t need to do anything for this in the Maintenance Planner. The B2B Add-on is still an Add-on and if you like to update it - you have to include it on the Maintenance Planner. There are no problems with the versions. But it will be good to have B2B 2.0 on the system- we have add some new functions on it

Best Regards,

Elke

@elke.doering Are there any plans in updating used com.jcraft.jsch library in SFTP adapter for using modern algorithms like rsa-sha2-256 or rsa-sha2-512? As original http://www.jcraft.com/jsch is not maintained anymore, you may need to switch to fork from https://github.com/mwiede/jsch

Hi,

If we upgrade PO from SP18 to SP23, does it mean that we'll not receive the in-built SFTP,SFSF, PGP module as part of SP22 delivery? If so, how can we get these adapters in SP23?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Dibyajit,

No, you will have these as standard in SP23. This change starts with SP22. SP22 and all higher SP's will now include the SFTP, SFSF, PGP etc as part of the standard installation. When you update to SP23, you will automatically have these available to you. Refer to note 3106799 Change to PO Add-on Components in 7.50 SP22, for more details.

Hi Elke,
Excellent information.

We did the upgrade from SP19 to SP24; and now both SFTP 1.0 and SAP BASIS 1.0 addons are generating the following error:
Exception received: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: received authentication request from server which could not be processed: destination=[user]@[servre_dest]; name=Password authentication; instruction=prompt=g
[user]'s password#
I have followed the steps indicated in the note "3120703 - PO SFTP adapter authentication request from server could not be processed", without a satisfactory result.

Is there any recommendation you can give me?
thank you very much

we upgrade PI java NW 7.5 SP20 to SP23. the PIB2BPGP did not automatically removed and still keep in system. When we are trying to remove manually com.sap.aii.adapter.bouncycastle.lib, we got  the app com.sap.aii.adapter.sftp.app still used. then we manually remove  com.sap.aii.adapter.sftp.app. after that we can remove PIB2BPGP. however the SFTP is not working fine any more. how do we resolve that issues.

Hi Elke,

Thanks for this interesting blog. As we're now running PO 7.5 SP14 and we have no immediate plan to update our SP level, can we still use SFTP and PGP functionalities? According to my understanding they should be already installed in the system as add-ons. Is that correct?

Hi Flaviano,

You can use the exciting functionality of SFPT and PGP with the Add-on - but we will not provide new function to the Add-on anymore.

Please update your PO system - SP14 is very old and we have build new feature and better security with the newer SP's.

Best Regards,

Elke
