Last week, IBM i 7.5 TR4 was released along with Db2 for i PTF Group SF99950 Level 7, as well as IBM i 7.4 TR 10 along with Db2 for i PTF Group SF99704 Level 28. You can get a quick overview over the enhancements for IBM i 7.5 at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-75-tr4-enhancements and for IBM i 7.4 at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-74-tr10-enhancements. A general entry point for the various Technology Refreshes with their enhancements can be found at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/1119129.

Attention: To further protect IBM i against vulnerabilities, the current PTF groups contain fixes that remove *PUBLIC authority *USE from some operating system commands. This may result in error SQL0552 for SQL statement CREATE TRIGGER, or error SQL0443 when accessing the system views PTF_INFO or GROUP_PTF_INFO. To avoid functional problems, it is advised that you grant *USE authority for user profile R3GROUP to these commands. To do so, sign on as QSECOFR or a user with similar authorities and execute the following commands:

GRTOBJAUT OBJ(QSYS/ADDPFTRG) OBJTYPE(*CMD) USER(R3GROUP) AUT(*USE)
GRTOBJAUT OBJ(QSYS/DSPPTF) OBJTYPE(*CMD) USER(R3GROUP) AUT(*USE)
GRTOBJAUT OBJ(QSYS/WRKPTFGRP) OBJTYPE(*CMD) USER(R3GROUP) AUT(*USE)

The SAP Support Required PTF Lists, formerly known as Information APARs, have been updated to include these new levels. The PTF lists can be found at the following links:

IBM i 7.5: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/sap-support-required-ptf-list-ibm-i-75
IBM i 7.4: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/sap-support-required-ptf-list-ibm-i-74
IBM i 7.3: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/sap-support-required-ptf-list-ibm-i-73

If you want to download the PTF lists to your SAP systems with the help of a program, take a look at our sample program and blog entry from July 18th, 2022.

We recommend that you apply the current PTF levels for preventive maintenance whenever you are performing your next scheduled maintenance.
