SAP’s Master Data Governance product variants differ from one another, especially with regards to functional differences. Reading all available documentation and information is quite cumbersome especially if you just like to get a quick overview of the main differences. 

Therefore I compared the following 3 products in the following overview.

  • SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition, master data governance
  • SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition
  • SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition, master data governance

Each of the images below focuses on a specific topic area, such as supported data models or functional aspects. The comparison provides you a functions and features comparison but does not claim to be complete. It is intended to provide assistance in evaluating the individual variants and give an initial impression of the respective range of functions.  

You might ask, why SAP S/4HANA master data governance on-premise is not part of this comparison. As it is identically to SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition, master data governance in regards of functionality (as of July 2024), it is not mentioned separately. But please note that AI scenarios which are already planned for future releases will not be available in the on-premise version but solely in cloud solutions.
