Introduction
SAP Integration Suite offers multiple
service plans catering to different needs of our customers.
With October 2021 release, we will be providing the much sought after feature to
seamlessly #upgrade an existing Integration Suite tenant to a higher service plan. Customers can now easily upgrade their current plan from a lower edition to a higher edition. For example, you can upgrade to standard edition (or) premium edition from basic edition, and be able to consume the features like B2B Integration and Low-code API on your existing tenant. Also note that the upgrade would not cause any downtime for the existing tenant.
24-July-2023 Update: Updated the blog content describing two different scenarios ( one for Subscription contracts & second one for Hybrid contracts ).
Please note that the below plans are supported for the plan update:

In this blog, I will summarise the process required to upgrade the
service plan. incase if you are looking to upgrade free to paid plan, refer blog: Integration Suite – Provisioning and Upgrading a Free Tier Tenant
If you are planning to upgrade a basic_edition Integration Suite tenant to a standard_edition, you need to follow the steps below. The procedure is same for other supported upgrade paths too, including the hybrid use cases. Scenario 1 in the blog describes a Subscription case & Scenario 2 describes a Hybrid case.
Prerequisite:
You have:
- Active Integration Suite tenant.
- Procured additional entitlements required to upgrade the tenant.
- Ensure that there exists atleast one unused quota of the target plan on your Global Account.
Upgradation Procedure
Scenario 1: On Subscription based contract, you would like to upgrade your tenant from basic edition to standard edition plan
If you are planning to upgrade a
basic_edition Integration Suite tenant to a
standard_edition, you need to follow the steps below:
Step 1: Verify, Configure and Assign the Higher Service Plan Entitlement to the Subaccount
Global Account Admin can verify the entitlements in
Global Account > Entitlements > Service Assignments to ensure the availability of the service plans before you upgrade
.
The below screenshot shows the entitlements screen for
basic_edition and
standard_edition.

Global Account - Entitlements - Service Assignments
Global Account Admin needs to assign the
standard_edition service plan to the subaccount wherever the
basic_edition service plan has been already subscribed. Note that there will not be any impact on the tenant even if
messages quota has been assigned during the plan update step.
To assign the service plan you need to navigate to
Global Account > Entitlements > Entity Assignments and configure entitlements as shown below:

a. Entity Assignments - Go

b. Configure Entitlements

c. Assign Service Plan

d. Save
Once the assignment is successful on your subaccount, you should see the screen below:

e. Entity Assignments
Step 2: Upgrading the Service Plan
Navigate to
Subaccount > Services > Instances and Subscriptions > Update and perform the steps as shown below:

a. Update
Select
standard_edition from the dropdown in the pop-up dialog and choose Update Subscription.

b. Update Subscription
REMEMBER: This action cannot be reverted.
Once the upgrade is successful, you can notice the plan change as shown here:

c. Plan Update - Success
Step 3: Activating Additional Capabilities
You can activate the new capabilities offered in the higher plan by navigating to
Go to Application > Manage Capabilities > Add Capabilities as shown below:

a. Go To Application

b. Manage Capabilities

c. Add Capabilities
Congratulations !!
Now you have successfully upgraded your Integration Suite tenant in a seamless manner.
Step 3: Free up the old plan quota so that they can be re-used on other Subaccounts ( Optional for Hybrid accounts )
On Successful Plan update, Global Account Administrator can free up/re-adjust the quotas by navigating to Global Account > Entitlements > Entity Assignments > Select Entities > Subaccount >Configure Entitlements > Delete Old Entitlement Quota as shown below:

3.a Delete old quota

That ends the plan upgrade for Subscription contracts.
Scenario 2: On Hybrid ( CPEA/PAYG+ Subscription) contract, you would like to update your tenant from enterprise_agreement to standard_edition/premium_edition plan
Step 1: Verify the available quota on Global Account and already Assigned plans on the Subaccount
On Subaccount, check the existing plans assigned, you may most likely see messages and enterprise_agreement plans assigned as shown below:

01- Subaccount- Existing assignment
On Global Account, verify the consumed quotas and available quotas before you trigger plan update.
you may see something like below:
in the below screenshot, you can notice that i already consumed standard_edition quotas, but there are available quotas on premium_edition:

02- Global Account Quotas before update
Step 2: Assign the required Quota(s) to Subaccount prior plan update
Global Account Admin needs to perform this activity. He/She needs to navigate to Global Account > Entity Assignments as shown below:

03 - Navigate to Global Account - Entity Assignments
Select Subaccount in Select Entities as show below:

04- Select Entities

Configure Entitlements, Add Service Plans and Save

06- Configure Entitlements

07-b. Select Target Plan

Step 3: Update Plan
Subaccount Administrator can perform this activity.
Navigate to Subaccount > Instances and Subscriptions > Integration Suite > ... > Update as shown below:

08 - Navigate to Update

08 b- Select Target plan premium_edition
Note that the warning clearly says that the plan update is not reversible, Click on Update Subscription to proceed the update.

08 c- Update Subscription
On Successful, update you can verify the subscription plan would be showing premium_edition as shown below:

08 d- Update Success
Also, It is worth noting that the update process would not impact any ongoing business on the tenant during the update process or incase of updation failed scenario. You can retry after sometime on failed cases.
Quota assignment/re-adjustment of messages plan would not impact the update process.

09 a- Delete Old Entitlement Quota

Thats all .
