We continue to strive for excellence in empowering the SAP health ecosystem with our platforms, which are cornerstones of success in the rapidly evolving digital landscapes. We remain committed to providing our healthcare partners and customers a wide array of options for building a modular healthcare system landscape that includes many different deployment and integration options.

We are very excited to share with you today an update, a year after we posted the BLOG “SAP Health Product Strategy gains momentum with initial group of partners”.

Two important milestones have been reached:

  1. We launched the SAP Health Data Services for FHIR for general availability.

  2. Six partners building on SAP Patient Management signed the Source Code Agreement for the development and sale of their SAP S/4HANA add-ons.

We are thrilled to announce the general availability of a new service on the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) for health applications. SAP Health Data Services for FHIR supports you in designing, implementing, and operating an application or service on SAP BTP relying on health-related data. At its core, it is a cloud-native implementation of the HL7® FHIR® standard. The service allows the profiling and storing of healthcare related resources according to your business and localization needs and comes with the following features and benefits:

  • Store, process, and exchange health data leveraging the HL7 FHIR standard.

  • Support for FHIR extensions and custom resources.

  • Provide comprehensive APIs (synchronous REST as well as asynchronous).

  • Enable faster design, implementation, and operation of a native cloud application or service relying on health-related data for integration, extension, and build scenarios.

The Hospiten Group, like several other customers and partners, has participated in an open beta phase of SAP Health Data Services for FHIR. „We started our transformative journey on SAP BTP more than a year ago. We are very excited about the potential of the new SAP Health Data Services for FHIR based on our first impressions during its beta phase. This has the promise to efficiently connect healthcare IT, our own developments and Partner applications with SAP Solutions.“ said Jochen Grüning the CIO of Hospiten Group based in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Please take a moment and watch a video giving you a quick overview. Further information can be found on the SAP Help Portal.

Getting started is simple: as an SAP Partner you can use the service for test, demo and development as part of your “Pay-As-You-Go for SAP BTP for Partners” license. In the next days, the service will also be available in the SAP Store.

We are pleased to announce that six SAP PartnerEdge partners signed a Source Code Agreement with SAP, which supports them in their effort to build and sell their own patient management and patient accounting solutions leveraging the SAP Patient Management source code and offer it as add-on solutions for SAP S/4HANA to customers and new prospective engagements. We are working with additional partners, who will be announced in due course.

We are excited about these new developments and would love to hear your thoughts on how we can further support your needs. Feel free to share your comments and questions below. For more information, contact or
