Latest Updates:
- October 2022: For releases higher than SAP S/4HANA 1909, please refer to the SAP S/4HANA 1909 screenshots for where to find the About information. Please be aware that the contents of the About information dialog box may be different on the FLP home page - e.g. where you can see the SAPUI5 version - when compared to the About information dialog when called from within an app, e.g. where you can see the current UI technology and app id.
- 7th November 2019: Added examples from SAP S/4HANA 1909, showing where the About icon appears in the User Actions menu. The application support component is highlighted (available in both 1809 and 1909) as this is extremely useful if you need to find a SAP Note or raise a SAP Incident.
With nearly 3K Fiori apps now available for SAP S/4HANA, as a technical support person being able to identify the technical name of an app is essential to quickly resolving user issues. Especially if you need to check for related SAP Notes on the
SAP Support Launchpad .
From
SAP S/4HANA 1709 (SAPUI5 1.52) there is new
Fiori Launchpad feature to help – and it’s all out of the box. It’s called the
About icon and this is how you use it.
From the business user’s home page, navigate to a specific app.
IMPORTANT: Regardless of whether the app is a Fiori app, a WDA app, or a SAP GUI transaction, or a WebClient UI, you can use the
About icon in this way.
In SAP S/4HANA 1909 or higher releases open the
User Actions menu (look for the person icon). In the example below you can see General Ledger Overview. Select the
About icon.
In SAP S/4HANA 1709 or 1809 releases all open the
Me Area. In the example below you can see
Clear Incoming Payments. Press the
About icon.
You will then see a dialog window that shows the technical details of the app for support purposes. In the dialog window you will see the technical name, version, and app id as well as exact version of the SAPUI5 being used and your web browser version details.
This is what the dialog looks like in SAP S/4HANA 1909. You can see the technical name of the app, and the app id. You can also see the application component to use if you have a problem with the app and need to find a SAP Note or raise a SAP Incident.
Tip: Make sure you include the
SAP Fiori app id in the title/subject of your SAP Incident and assign it to the correct application component as explained in
Speed up your Fiori Support Incidents.
This is what it looks like in SAP S/4HANA 1709. In SAP S/4HANA 1809 you will also see the application support component.
For a Fiori app the dialog window will look something like this:
This same approach works for Web Dynpro ABAP apps, which look something like this:
And even it even works for SAP GUI transactions and looks something like this:
So what do you do with the technical name once you have found it?
You can search by the technical name in the
Fiori Apps Library.
And for Fiori apps you can also search by
App id.
This even works for the technical name of a Web Dynpro ABAP app or SAP GUI transaction.
You can also search by the technical name (or app id) in the
SAP Support Launchpad.
TIP: For embedded analytics Smart Business tiles you will notice the technical name is the same regardless of which tile you choose. That’s because technically they are all the same Fiori app - just with different configuration details. Just look for your KPI by name in the Fiori app KPI Workspace to find the matching configuration details.
