As AI continues to take over more routine functions for knowledge workers, the remaining tasks often fall to experts or teams of experts. So, collaboration becomes even more important so people can complete tasks in real time, rather than delaying critical decisions because of latency in communication. This SAP S/4HANA integration with Microsoft Teams adds another option to SAP’s collaborative ERP, allowing people to share content as a card, in addition to the share as tab or share as chat functions.

With SAP S/4HANA 2402, we added the ability to share apps as a card, based on the collaborative stage view in Microsoft Teams. This allows the recipient to directly edit the data in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition within the Collaborative Stage View of Microsoft Teams. The value is similar to our other share with Microsoft Teams options – allow people to get more done without task shifting.

One example of how this might work is if one colleague asks another to remove a delivery block on an order. This new capability allows them to collaborate via chat in Microsoft Teams while simultaneously interacting with the relevant data in SAP S/4HANA.

Collaborate using the Collaborative Stage View of Microsoft Teams.

To summarize the collaborative ERP capabilities in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition that are generally available, we allow Microsoft Teams users to

  • Share as Chat – include a link to the SAP S/4HANA app in a Microsoft Teams chat
  • Share as Tab – display the SAP S/4HANA app in a tab in Microsoft Teams
  • Share as Card – use the collaborative stage view in Microsoft Teams to show the SAP S/4HANA app and allow users to interact with it

We are planning to add to the Share as Card functionality by providing the ability to share apps as an Adaptive Card-based Loop component. This will allow users to directly view and take action on the data in the Adaptive Card, which can be shared via Microsoft Teams or Microsoft Outlook. If you are an SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition customer and want to test this functionality, please sign up for our early adopter care program.
