We are delighted to share the general availability of SAP Cloud Platform Process Visibility. Customers can now subscribe to the service and use it productively. Process Visibility is an integral part of the BPM Cloud service family.

Process Visibility provides visibility into processes that run in the cloud, on-premise or in hybrid environments. These processes typically span across multiple applications be it SAP or non-SAP and are value generating processes that are time critical.

Process Visibility enables process excellence, process transparency and process transformation by:

  • providing one view of this process no matter where it runs

  • correlating processes across multiple applications to form an end-to-end process

  • providing actionable insights

  • identifying process bottlenecks

  • tracking process performance

Customers who need deeper insights into their workflows from SAP Cloud Platform Workflow and other value generating processes (e.g. Source to Pay, Order to Cash, Consume to Cash, Capital Expenditure, Master Data Management, Employee Onboarding, Claims Management) running in SAP or non-SAP Applications must subscribe to Process Visibility.

Process Visibility is currently available in Cloud Foundry AWS, Europe (Frankfurt) data centre. Roll-out to additional regions and a free trial are planned for the upcoming weeks.

Hello,

Is there already a guide on how to activate PV on a CF trial environment?

HI Christian,

Yes we have a tutorial: https://developers.sap.com/group.cp-visibility-setup.html

After the set-up you can import a sample scenario & events from out git (https://github.com/SAP-samples/cloud-process-visibility) or you can try out visibility on workflow (https://developers.sap.com/group.cp-visibility-create-scenario.html)

Let me know if you need additional details.

Regards,

Tarun

Hi Tarun,

We are moving all existing business processes from PO BPM to SAP Cloud Platform. Is there a way we can still access the historical data and open processes from SCP? How do we set this up Thanks.

Hi Magnus,

I guess you are talking about understanding your process and gaining insights into your process. If this is this is the case then there is a way but to push historical & open instances data to SAP Cloud Platform Process Visibility. However in my view you must try to justify the value that it would bring.

You would need to transform that data into events and push these events to process visibility. This requires a deeper discussion and we should set up a call to go into the details.

Hi Tarun, thanks for accommodating my question. Indeed, this is to gain insights to the processes. However, we need to bring the historical data from SAP BPM to SCP. I was able to upload some events in the process visibility in one of the exercises that is why I did consider Process Visibility. I have not come across yet any documentation regarding migrating SAP BPM historical logs or mapping the historical data to the format in process visibility. Is this something SAP perhaps will look at as a future tool as there is a use case? Thank you in advance.

Hi Magnus,

We shall provide a solution for this in the future but one of the best mechanism is to use an ETL tool like SAP Data Services or SAP Data Intelligence to read data, transform into events and push into process visibility using the REST end point. Anit has also written a blog on the same: https://blogs.sap.com/2019/12/30/sap-cloud-platform-process-visibility-publish-data-using-apis/.
