The new version of SAP BTP SDK for iOS 24.8.0 is now generally available.

You can download the latest version of the SDK either from the Software Center or the downloads section on develeopers.sap.com

With this latest release, the SAP BTP SDK for iOS team has brought some exciting new features for you to explore.

In this blog, we will highlight the new upgrade's offerings. Please visit our documentation and API reference to get a detailed overview of all the features released.

Highlights

visionOS App Development

In the previous release (24.4), we introduced the foundational capability to start developing for visionOS. With the 24.8 release, we've taken this further by expanding the. Now, you can leverage all the authentication types supported by SAP Mobile Services, ensuring seamless and secure logins for your users. This release also brings advanced security features such as App Attestation, and Clipboard restriction. Additionally, developers can now build visionOS apps that can run offline.

Assistant Improvements

With the latest release of SAP BTP SDK for iOS, the SAP BTP SDK Assistant has been enhanced to support the creation of applications using IAS (Identity Authentication Service) security settings. Previously, this option was available only on SAP Mobile Services. Now, you can directly configure IAS security settings in the Assistant, alongside the existing support for XSUAA.

The Assistant now fully supports Complex OData Types in the scaffolding applications it generates. Whether you're using the generated app as a reference or a starting point, it will handle OData services with complex types, simplifying the development of UIs based on complex data structures.

Foundation Enhancements

In this release, the Foundation framework has been enhanced to support Apple’s bytes API. This powerful addition enables you to retrieve the contents of a URL request as an asynchronous sequence of bytes. With this capability, you can now stream response data in real-time without needing to wait for the entire response to be fully downloaded.

Additionally, the latest version of the SDK introduces Secure Store APIs, allowing you to securely store sensitive information such as authentication tokens. This feature will accelerate your watchOS development, allowing you to store authentication context between your phone app and watch extension.

OData

By upgrading to the 24.8.0's OData Library, you can start using the $search & $filter OData queries for both online and offline apps. The offline apps are also capable of using OData open type and a single entity type for containment of multuple parent entity sets.

SAP Fiori

The 24.8 version includes several additions and enhancements to SAP Fiori & SAP Fiori Flows. You can now integrate third-party scanning solutions into the scanning flow. By introducing a list of scanning options, users can select from multiple available scanning solutions, with the added ability to search through these options.

The search bar has been improved to better handle various states involved in speech recognition, offering a more intuitive and seamless user experience when performing voice-based searches.

Additionally, starting with this release, you can register for a more detailed session that will cover all the new capabilities in depth. To join, register for the SAP Fiori for Android & iOS Release Rollout here.
