In our first QRC release in 2024 we have 56 new Innovations in SAP Analytics Cloud. Of the items delivered we covered 23 Customer Influence Requests with more than 800 votes. Let's dive in and see what they are.

Data Integration and Data Modeling

We had a number of new innovation for Data Wranglers covering Hierarchies and Time dimensions, amassing more than 200 votes, which included:

Live SAP BW – improved support of time-dependent hierarchies

For SAP BW live connections, users can now use version-dependent and time-dependent hierarchies in tables and chart widgets. This feature is only available in the optimized story experience.

To-date formulas in model calculations

Users can now create calculated measures or calculated accounts using YTD (Year-to-Date), QTD (Quarter-to-Date), and MTD (Month-to-Date) functions at model level.  These functions display running totals across year, quarter, or month levels of date granularity, respectively. This enables users to compare values against a budget, a target, or previous periods.

 Flexible Modeling

The Modeler has been extensively redesigned to align with the changes made to models in SAP Analytics Cloud. Models now have greater flexibility and users can select how to build a model.

When creating a new model in the Modeler, the application allows users to decide whether to focus on the data first to build the structure of the model or build the structure first and then add the data.

For the first version of the new modeler, users will be able to experience the new data first approach, which allows creation of new models while solely focusing on the data you want to work with. There is no wrangling step, the application generates the model automatically. Users import the data and carry out all the necessary transformation, while the application handles the structure of the model automatically.

New Model – Disaggregation based on another measure

New disaggregation types, “Reference to Another Measure” allows on-the-fly disaggregation using proportions from another measure. It comes with two modes:

  • Total Distribution - disaggregates total value entered
  • Delta Distribution - disaggregates delta to the total value entered

Until now, disaggregation was driven automatically by the aggregation type of measure and the data state. With this enhancement, you can now choose the disaggregation type and control the disaggregation scope, whether you want to disaggregate the total value entered or just the delta to the value entered.
