Dear community,

In the past few weeks, we released several great new features for SAP Business Application Studio. I’m happy to share some of the highlights with you.

Python Development in SAP Business Application Studio

If you are a developer who wants to develop in Python, this is now possible in SAP Business Application Studio: We now offer Python support in SAP Business Application Studio as a docker extension. The only thing you need to do is to add the Python extension to your dev space. This then allows you to access SAP HANA data and build machine learning models.

Simplified Git - Enhanced List of Changes

With the Simplified Git View SAP Business Application Studio enables you to easily connect and interact with the Git source control system. With the latest release of SAP Business Application Studio, you now can see a list of all changes in the PENDING CHANGES section. This gives you the flexibility to select which changed files you would like to commit and sync to your remote Git repository. You can also select or unselect all changes in a single click.

UI5 Language Assistant for Formatting XML Files

A lot of customers have been asking us about XML formatting in SAP Business Application Studio. We are happy to inform you that with the new UI5 Language Assistant that comes built-in into SAP Business Application Studio, XML formatting is now easy.

The UI5 language assistant works on *.view.xml and *.fragment.xml files. After opening such a file, you can simply right click somewhere in the xml code. Then you can use the format document with… or format document… commands and choose to format with the UI5 Language Assistant. It is also possible to format a certain selection by marking it, right click and then choosing format selection… or format selection with…

In addition, you can set the UI5 Language Assistant as the default formatter (Format document with…-> Configure default formatter). You can also set the default formatter in the settings of SAP Business Application Studio.
