Overview

As part of the SAC 2024 Q3 release, Planning users can now use the native story trigger to upload flat files directly from story. It will allow the end users to mass upload the data directly from story without the need to go through the modeler.

  • Administrators/Process Owners can define a dedicated end-user data upload job from within the modeler and can upload a file to act as the template structure.

  • Story designers will have access to a dedicated 'data import' planning trigger (similar to data actions). Within the widget they will reference the relevant model and data upload job (described above), in addition to other default settings (e.g., target version, automatic publish).

  • At execution time (i.e., on trigger click), end-users will be prompted to select a source file for upload as well as the target version (if made available by the story designer)

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to enable the upload job and add it into a story.

  • Admin Users can create the upload job with the desired upload template which can be shared with the end users.

  • End users can prepare the data in the template format and upload it directly from the story using the Upload Job Starter.

Pre-requisites: This will be supported only for the new model, on non-SAP data centre tenants.

Step 1: Create a Upload Job

Modelers/Admin can now see a Upload Jobs Section under the Data Management Tab along with Import and Export Jobs. Click on the Upload Data button present on the right side to upload the template.

Summary

Upload Job Starter can be very useful to upload mass data flat files by the end users without the need of going to the modeler or transformation. It can be a useful addition to plan data uploads along with data entry.

Hope it helps.
