Only two months have passed since my last reader’s digest blog but there is already a lot of new and interesting content available for SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management and BRFplus. So I think it’s time for another one.
Decision Service Accelerator (DSA) is an add-on that extends SAP NW DSM/BRFplus into a multi-purpose, multi-platform, and multi-language business rule management and execution platform to suit the entire organization. It permits the central creation and distribution of SAP business rules and decision services as executable packages onto non-SAP servers, devices, and platforms. See this blog for more details.
Jocelyn Dart is one of our consultants down under. Information has to travel a long way to reach my desk. Therefore, I am very happy to have her experience report available as a blog now. To a great extent, her observations match mine. The time spent reading her blog is definitely worth your while. Unlike me, she knows how to write interesting blogs.
With SAP NetWeaver 7.40 Support Package 5, the first shipment for deep integration of NW DSM with SAP HANA took place. Now, it is possible to use HANA procedures just like ABAP methods. The ability to define business rules and deploy them into HANA directly is now even more powerful. We call this concept the “Dynamic Database View”. Thanks to Wolfgang Schaper we now have a document with many screenshots and examples that explains the capabilities.
SAP for Insurance Claims Management and NW DSM is a great combination to improve, automate, and accelerate decision making for insurance companies. Gerd Rühle and Wolfgang Schaper have put together some slides that explain how you can use NW DSM in Insurance processes.
After almost two years of writing and support from many colleagues we finally published a step-by-step guide for the creation of custom expression types and action types. The document turned out to be pretty large due to the level of detail provided.
Voestalpine, world leading in manufacturing, processing, and development of steel products, plans to reshape many of its core processes with flexible business rules. Therefore, Voestalpine chose SAP NetWeaver Decision Service Management as a strategic platform. In several workshops, we worked out the approach for the next months and years. As a result, we decided to add custom-defined attributes to NW DSM. If you want to learn more, take a look at this document which gives a good explanation about the feature.
Many customers ask me about using NW DSM and BRFplus for Pricing. Thanks to my colleagues, Berno Kofler and Ursula Becker, Pricing can now leverage the integration with business rules. This is especially helpful when dealing with complex formulas. Learn more about the integration in this presentation.
Learn how NW DSM/BRFplus automatically finds values in the database and how you can dynamically define your own value lists with only a few lines of code. This document is the reply to a forum post in which a customer asked for help with a value help that did not contain expected values.
Lalit Kabra wrote a nice document with a step-by-step description for the creation of a BRFplus scenario and with lots of background information. The document is based on NetWeaver version 7.0 Enhancement Package 2 from 2011.
