Spatial data represents the geographic location and extent of objects on Earth such as buildings, lakes, mountains, townlands, and many other objects. Geospatial data is represented as 2D geometries, e.g. points, line strings, and polygons. With SAP HANA, users can store geometries in the database and execute spatial functions on these geometries. Spatial Analysis with SAP HANA Platform is a new openSAP course starting from April 25 and runs over a three-week period.

Spatial Analysis with SAP HANA Platform starts with a general introduction to spatial analysis – what it is and why it is useful. The course will look at how to access and manipulate spatial data and how to use spatial content and services. The course will then move deeper into details, such as geocoding; converting business data into geographic locations to enable geographic analysis. Spatial aggregation and set operations, spatial predicates and joins, as well as spatial clustering will also be included in the course content. Finally, the course will take a look at the architecture of spatial applications and how to build them. The course will provide you with the opportunity to complete hands-on exercises in a variety of units throughout the course.

Before signing up to this course, it’s recommended that you have basic knowledge about databases and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The course is mainly aimed at Data Scientists, App Developers, and Technical Business Analysts but is open to everyone interested in the topic.

Enrollment for Spatial Analysis with SAP HANA Platform is now open!
