SAP Monitoring service now offers a new Certificate Validity metric for Java applications in the Neo environment, which allows you to keep track of expiring certificates. This way the service can notify you when your client and CA certificates are about to expire so that you can take the necessary steps to renew them.
By default, the service monitors client certificates and sets the default metric for the client certificate whose expiration period is the shortest from today. If the certificate has expired, the metric will then show a value 0 days to expiration. In such a case, it’d be better if you clean up such expired certificates so that you can keep track of the ones that are still used.
Furthermore, it’s possible that the Java application has not loaded any certificates for monitoring. In such a case, the Certificate Validity metric shows the value -1 days to expiration. For more information about the default metric, how to create a custom one, and how to customize the list of allowed certificates, see Certificate Validity Metric.
In addition, this metric uses Warning and Critical thresholds to notify you that your certificate is about to expire. By default, the Warning threshold is defined as 14 days before the expiration, and the Critical one is set as 7 days before the expiration. However, you can also customize these thresholds to match with your custom needs. See Manage Thresholds for Default Checks of a Java Application.
Try out the new Certificate Validity metric for Java applications in the Neo environment and share how it works for you.
We’ll be happy to hear your feedback and experience while using this functionality. Any points for improvement are also appreciated.
