SAP provides several ways to combine analytic results into sophisticated reports that relate data from diverse sources to help make faster, better business decisions. We can create Dashboards, and we can use Design Studio to generate active reports from data in BW and HANA. We can also produce multidimensional reports using Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence. Here is a SAP Lumira showing revenue, and gross margin, by city.
Now, we go beyond all of these, by including information sources that themselves manage Multidimensional Data. HANA SP6 handles 2D data
and thus can store and calculate geo-spatial coordinates. We can use that to reason about overlapping regions, distances between objects, and relationships that come from earth positions.
Here is an example of a Gas Production application running on iPad that accesses geo-spatial data for thousands of wells in 3 oil fields.
We are seeing wells colored by their production gap first detected in January 2013 in the SOTEX field.
Another example of a 2D Analytic application uses the SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer with CGM data for a plant diagram, and real-time data from a working power plant using SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII) to actively indicate plant conditions on the operational process graphic showing critical pressure, temperature, and flow conditions
SAP Visual Enterprise is most noted for their high performance handling of 3D data. The same concept shown above of real-time labeling and annotation of a diagram, is shown here on an 80,000 part large offshore oil rig with runtime data. This is a SAP Business Object Dashboard with the SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer Dashboards 4 Add-On which allows embedded 3D objects to be used for selection to drive analyses. Here we see visual changes to the scene based on analytic values and calculations from the Dashboard and its connected data sources. The Dashboard also provide click access to underlying ERP and MII data.
How about 4D? Yes. SAP provides access to motion and process as shown here (1 frame) in the SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer which can run inside a pdf, in a Flex application, or in HTML pages, or stand-alone. Work instructions may be provided for multi-step assemblies and maintenance procedures, and may include warning symbols, text annotations, and close-ups. All of this can be driven by other applications through the rich SDK.

Data may be one-dimensional like the manufacturing time for one step in an assembly process, or it may be two dimensional like the geographic locations of your most efficient plants, or it may be three dimensional like the detailed model of your oil rig, and for all of these it may have a time dimension as well. In every case, SAP has you covered.
