One year after initial release-to-customer SAP Launchpad service is well adopted by customers and partners around the globe. At the same time, the service is further evolving with various functional enhancements and extended use cases for integration.

  1. Content federation for SAP S/4HANA Cloud

With the availability of the 2108 release, SAP S/4HANA Cloud is now also able to expose business content to integrate the roles and their related SAP Fiori launchpad content such as apps, catalogs, spaces, and pages in the SAP Launchpad service. To learn how to set up the communication between the content provider system and the SAP Launchpad service, and how to expose the roles that you want to integrate, check out the documentation.

2. Content federation for SAP Business Suite

As I wrote recently in another blog post, SAP Fiori Front-End server 6.0 SP04 now supports content federation., SAP Business Suite administrators now can make available complete roles with all their apps, catalogs, and groups in the SAP Launchpad service in a much more easy and efficient way. You can find detailed information on how to expose SAP Fiori launchpad content from SAP Fiori front-end server 6.0 in the documentation.

3. Content federation for SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain (SAP IBP)

SAP IBP is a cloud-based solution combining sales and operations planning (S&OP), forecasting and demand, response and supply, demand-driven replenishment, and inventory planning. It is now also supported for content federation to the SAP Launchpad service.

4. Notifications from SAP S/4HANA (cloud and on-prem) as well as custom BTP (CF) apps

Notifications can now be made available via the bell icon in the header of the SAP Launchpad to make users aware of situations that require their attention or an action. Users can access notifications from an SAP S/4HANA system (cloud and on-prem) and from custom applications deployed to SAP BTP Cloud Foundry environment. To learn about the required configurations, please check out the documentation.

5. Enterprise Search integration

Enterprise Search provides direct search access to business data stored in SAP S/4HANA from the search bar in the launchpad header. Users can narrow down the search to a specific type of business object, e.g. a sales order, or they can filter the results list according to various filter possibilities. To learn more about the users' options when using the search, see the User Guide, for more information on configuring Enterprise Search integration, see the administrator documentation.

6. Integration of Web Assistant for help content from SAP S/4HANA

Web Assistant is now integrated into the SAP Launchpad and can be easily activated in the site settings by specifying some parameters. It enables users to view on-screen help content for launchpad functionality and for federated SAPUI5 apps from SAP S/4HANA.

7. SAP Launchpad service as part of the new free tier model of SAP BTP

Customers with CPEA / Pay-as-you-go contracts can activate a free service plan for evaluation and PoC projects. All other new and existing customers can simply sign up for Pay-As-You-Go to get started. Please see the sap.com for some general information and the documentation for more details.
