SAP Enterprise Portal is the web front-end component for the SAP NetWeaver platform. Thousands of customers around the world are still using SAP Enterprise Portal to provide their employees, customers, and partners a central and intuitive access point to business applications, information, and services. If you are one of those customers, then you should consider the following dates: SAP NetWeaver 7.5 will be supported in mainstream maintenance until end of 2027 with extended maintenance until end of 2030.

As a general strategic approach of how to proceed as an EP customer, we recommend to transition your SAP Enterprise Portal use cases to SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), multi-cloud environment and in particular to SAP Build Work Zone  We're thrilled to announce our transition from SAP Enterprise Portal to SAP Build Work Zone, an upgraded digital experience offering greater functionality, streamlined workflows, and a more intuitive interface tailored for today’s dynamic workplace. 

 

In this post, we’ll outline what this transition entails, highlight the major enhancements, and provide guidance on maximizing the potential of SAP Build Work Zone. 

 

Why Transition to SAP Build Work Zone? 

SAP Build Work Zone offers significant improvements over SAP Enterprise Portal, which has served us well but now limits our evolving needs. SAP Build Work Zone seamlessly integrates with the latest SAP solutions, providing powerful productivity tools, embedded collaboration features, and simplified customization options. Key benefits include: 

  • Enhanced Collaboration: SAP Build Work Zone integrates collaborative tools directly into workflows, making it easier to connect with colleagues and share information effortlessly. 
  • Personalized Experience: SAP Build Work Zone allows users to personalize their dashboards, making it simple to access the most relevant content and tools. 
  • Unified Access to Applications: With seamless integration to SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, and other cloud solutions, Work Zone provides a single access point to essential tools and data.

Getting Started with SAP Build Work Zone 

We’ve aimed for a smooth transition to SAP Build Work Zone. Here’s a quick start guide to help you get up and running: 

  1. Accessing SAP Build Work Zone 
    SAP Build Work Zone is accessible through a new URL, but your login credentials will remain the same. Simply navigate to the new link and sign in with your existing credentials. 
  2. Customizing Your Page 
    On your first login, you’ll have the option to personalize your page. Add widgets to quickly access essential applications, notifications, and favorite content. 
  3. Exploring Integrated Tools 
    SAP Build Work Zone connects seamlessly with collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint, along with productivity tools in the SAP suite. Take some time to explore these integrations to help streamline your daily workflows. 
  4. Navigating Workspaces and Groups 
    Workspaces in SAP Build Work Zone replace certain functions previously available in Enterprise Portal pages. Within Workspaces, you can create content, engage in discussions, and share documents with your team. We encourage you to join your department’s workspace and explore available resources. 
  5. Using Knowledge Bases and Widgets 
    The SAP Build Work Zone knowledge base provides quick access to frequently used documents, guides, and tools. Widgets further personalize your experience by offering instant access to the apps and dashboards most relevant to your role.

I have found this tool for migration of EP to WZ, but it is only for NEO. Is there also version for CF? Or will that generated MTA (as described in documentation) work also when deploying to CF?
