How to move from On-premises to Software-as-a-Service with SAP Signavio?

After deep-diving into why SaaS is better and getting familiar with the top features of the new SAP Signavio Collaboration Hub, let’s look into your migration options to move from your On-premises SAP Signavio Process Transformation Suite to the new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) edition.

The process is straightforward, as it just needs proper planning. There are two migration options when moving from the On-premises to SaaS with SAP SAP Signavio:

1. SGX Self-Guided


2. Database Migration

Let’s look at each of the alternatives.

1. SGX Self-Guided

The first option is SGX Self-Guided migrating using the standard functionality to import process data as SGX files – SGX Export and SGX Import. In this option, processes and process data are fully migrated, except for comments and log information. Moreover, some settings need to be manually adjusted for the migration, like configurations, non-linked dictionary items, users, and user groups.

The advantage of this option is that it can be done independently and quickly by the workspace administrator, depending on the data size. The maximum supported total size of uploaded files is 2GB. This option demands a higher commitment from the customer side, as it’s done independently.

2. Database Migration

SAP Signavio entirely manages a Database Migration with minimal customer effort. The customer provides database dumps, and the SAP Signavio Team migrates all content to the new SaaS workspace. This alternative offers 1:1 migration, and all data can be fully migrated without restrictions. Within this alternative, starting date must be planned with SAP Signavio Team before the kick-off migration.

In summary
