Introduction

In this blog, you will learn, detailed steps required to create an SAP Datasphere Service Instance in the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), If you’ve signed the Consumption-Based commercial model i.e. SAP BTP Enterprise Agreement(BTPEA) or Pay-As-You-Gofor the SAP Business Technology Platform. SAP Datasphere is the next generation of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, which is a unified service for data integration, data cataloging, a semantic modeling layer, data warehousing, and virtualizing workloads for critical SAP and Non-SAP business data.
Pay-As-You-Go or CPEA BTP accounts enable you can access the SAP BTP cockpit and view all currently available services in a global account. Here, we are focusing on the SAP Datasphere service. Initially, you need to structure this BTP global account into subaccounts and create other related artifacts, like directories, spaces, entitlements, services, environment instances, etc. Free tier service plans are open to customers, partners, and individual developers and let you try out and learn more about the SAP BTP services for free. These account types enable you to test your proof-of-concept business scenarios and offer the option to upgrade to paid service plans.

8. Once the service instance is created, the SAP Datasphere system owner receives an email confirming its availability, and a link to navigate to the SAP Datasphere tenant.

The SAP Datasphere welcome email NOT received? It might be delayed by up to 2 hours. In the meantime, check your junk mail folder. For more info, see SAP Note 3262894 - Welcome email not received for SAP Datasphere.jeetendrakapase_15-1718130571631.png

9. To view Datasphere Instance, go to your subaccount space, and services Instance page. In the search box put 'Datasphere', now you should see the newly created Datasphere instance with the status as Created (you can view the progress of its creation). Excellent blog, Jeetendra. I expected the combination of SAP Data Intelligence with SAP Analytics, having been following this space for a while:

What is SAP Data Hub

Is it possible to access Datasphere on the trial version of the BTP? I do not seem to have the option to add the respective Service Plan.

Many thanks in advance

Thank you, Frank.

Not from the trial version of the BTP. You will need a Pay-As-You-Go or CPEA plan for the SAP Business Technology Platform to access the free 90-day trial of the SAP Datasphere instance.

hello, I just created my BTP (Pay as you go), I created the subaccount but I can't find SAP Datapshere in the available entitlements.

Is there any kind of restriction?

You have to add SAP Datasphere to your entitlements, Paul. Go to Entitlements -> Configure Entitlements -> Add Service Plans -> SAP Datasphere.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your answer. Sorry, but I don't have SAP Datasphere in the service plans. That's my blocking point.

Datapshere not available in my entitlements

Another guy who tested on his side has exactly the same problem than me. And we don't have the same list of available entitlements.

Currently, SAP Datasphere and SAP Data Intelligence are separate products. However, SAP Datasphere Data Flows and Replication Flows do provide some capabilities mainly of ETL from SAP Data Intelligence.

Plan to have SAP Datasphere and SAP Data Intelligence Cloud co-exist until SAP Datasphere supports all SAP Data Intelligence Cloud customer use cases. The intent of SAP Datasphere is to eventually cover all the important capabilities, target systems, and use cases that SAP Data Intelligence Cloud provides.

I ordered "Pay As you Go fo SAP BTP" as described in the picture. I viewed that it has been created as a Trial BTP and I don't understand why.

I used this link to create my BTP account, which looks similar. I created my account with the US East region / AWS.

I received all registration mails 1 day later, my BTP cockpit is now a global account, I just activated SAP Datasphere right now.
I had to wait 24 hours to receive the 4 mails to activate my S-account and my BTP cockpit

That's great and explains why it showed as trial* as it was being set up in the background and took around 24 hrs to receive the global account registration emails.

Thanks for the wonderful blog Jeetendra. I have few questions. Could you please help

  1. What is the difference between GE trial vs BTP trial vs BTP Pay as you go option.

  2. Is the integration possible between SAP HANA Cloud and GE Trial/SAP BTP Trial/SAP BTP Pay as you go option?

  3. Is the integration possible between SAP SAC to GE trial version ?

In the TRIAL account, we don't have Europe Instance anymore.

Is there any way to get it. May be it is available in Paid instance.

Hello @jeetendrakapase,

Thanks for the blog. I have used the SAP Trail version of 30 days from SAP Datasphere Academy. In the Trail version, we don't have access to Configuration and Administration tabs. Due to this, we are unable to configure DP Agent and Cloud connector.  Because of this I am unable to integrate with other Databases for loading the data from Datasphere.

So with the Pay-As-You-Go or CPEA plan for the SAP Business Technology Platform, we get access to the free 90-day trial of the SAP Datasphere instance. Can you please answer the below questions for me:
1.  In this Datasphere instance will we have access to System -> Administration and System -> Configuration Tabs?

2. Right now I have a trial version of the BTP. Where I am unable to see the Datasphere instance under the Entitlements. Can you please provide me the link or steps on how we can step up the 90-day trail of the SAP Datasphere instance with a Pay-As-You-Go or CPEA plan for the SAP Business Technology Platform?

Thanks in Advance

@charan_1907 - Please find the response

1> Yes, if you get the SAP Datasphere 90-day trial you will have access to System/Configuration for DPAgent or Cloudconnector.

2> You need to be on the SAP BTP Enterprise Account (Paid) to see the Datasphere Entitlements. The steps are the same as mentioned in the blog. SAP Datasphere free trial is not available on the SAP BTP free trial.

Instead of using a BTP Trial account, use a BTP Pay-As-You-Go account (PAYG)

@jeetendrakapase  Thank you for the quick response. One more question Instead of using a BTP Trial account,  we can use a BTP Pay-As-You-Go account (PAYG) by linking a credit card right? So for how many months can we use this BTP Pay-As-You-Go account without charge? Is it For 3 months?

Can you please answer to above question 🙂

Thanks in Advance.
