Why data validation?

The purpose of this article is to describe the procedure to validate the data displayed in the Tactical Dashboard. Customers often wonder where the data come from, how it is calculated and how to check the configuration settings against the several data sources which are the base for every scenario in the Dashboard.

AVAILABILITY SCENARIO

The data from this scenario comes from Interactive Reporting. It can be validated using this path:

SM_WORKCENTER ==> Technical Monitoring ==> Interactive Reporting ==> (select the system ID) ==> System Reports

Then, you have to find an appropriate time frame (similar to the one configured in the Dashboard setup) and select the Product Instance Tab (Usually the one next to the Overview).

Here you can expand the "System Availability" table to check the values for different time/days.

DATABASE GROWTH

The database Growth scenario replicates the data displayed in the Interactive Reporting.

It can be validated using this path:

SM_WORKCENTER ==> Technical Monitoring ==> Interactive Reporting ==> Tab Databases ==> (Select System ID)  ==> Database Reports ==> Overview Tab ==> Capacity ==> DB Utilization

The values in the main tile can be validated using the "This month" time frame and adding Occupied and Free Memory in the DB Utilization area.

To validate the data in the detail scenario

just select the product instance tab ==> Capacity ==> DB Utilization with the timeframe "This Year".
