Update December 4, 2023: SAP decided to extend the maintenance period of SAP Fiori FES 2020 and 2021. Details will be published in the notes linked below. As a consequence, this blog post is obsolete.
Working with a complex system with different components and their respective versions is often a challenge. The respective information on SAPUI5 versions is provided by SAP, see the
SAPUI5 versioning concept and e.g. my blog “
Fresh UI5 innovations every month“. Also see the
SAPUI5 version overview and
SAPUI5 versions in the ABAP platform.

I want to make you aware of the fact that the SAPUI5 long-term maintenance version 1.84 has its end of maintenance at the end on 31.12.2023. For end of mainstream maintenance for SAP_UI 7.55 (SAPUI5 1.84) see note
3349678, for general information on SAP Fiori FES 2020 for SAP S/4HANA see note
2919182.
Related to this end of maintenance is the scheduled deletion of SAPUI5 1.84 (in Q4/2024) and its patches before 1.84.34 (in Q2/2024) from the SAPUI5 CDN. This is according to the plans outlined in
Removing outdated UI5 versions from UI5 CDN.
Most customers want to receive latest SAPUI5 innovations and at the same time ensure standard support. Therefore, SAP does not recommend starting new implementations with SAP_UI 7.55, but instead taking the required steps for an upgrade to a more recent version.

SAP recommends upgrading your front-end server according to the Maintenance and Update Strategy for SAP Fiori Front-End Server (see note
2217489).
For upgrade information see
SAP Maintenance Strategy,
SAP Maintenance Planner and
Software Logistics Tools. Before an upgrade, please check the target release information and notes referenced in note
2217489, and also check if the installed applications support the new target landscape.
