The SAP Fiori launchpad is the entry point for many SAP solutions, such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP ABAP environment.

As a business user, it provides you with intuitive access to the apps assigned to you based on your job role(s). Here you can find everything you need to get your on-system tasks done, on the device that best suits your task.

This user experience is not just about apps. The launchpad includes a range of useful features across all your apps so you can work smarter, such as AI (Joule, your digital assistant), human-to-human collaboration tools, app-to-app navigation, search by object ids, set your preferred defaults, notifications of urgent work, context-sensitive help, set your personal preferences on your home page, and more.

Key Features

SAP Fiori launchpad and its features bring the end-to-end experience of the user together, with scalable options for simple and complex roles, whether you are deploying a few apps or thousands.

The launchpad allows business users to launch their apps on mobile and desktop devices, giving them all the relevant information they need at a glance. In addition, the launchpad provides all apps with services such as navigation, personalization, embedded support, and application configuration.

Please note that users can launch apps of different UI types, not only SAP Fiori apps but also classic UIs (GUI transactions in SAP GUI for HTML, ABAP Web Dynpro applications, Web Client UIs), and extended content such as remote content - e.g. custom-built apps on BTP,  SAP Analytics Cloud stories, etc.

This makes the launchpad an ideal place to manage process changes over time for your business users. For example, gradually move your users from GUI transactions to SAP Fiori apps, using the launchpad layouts (spaces and pages) to highlight recommended versus old apps during transition and warn which apps will be removed soon.

Navigate with Spaces and Pages

The spaces and pages navigation menu is how you access your most important apps in a structured, business-meaningful way. The spaces represent a work area, while pages a work context bundling most used and relevant applications in sections for the business user.

Once you have started working in an app, the launchpad enables app-to-app navigation, so you don't need to go back to the launchpad to find your next app. Take a look at the navigation and check out short demos in the blog Getting Started with Spaces and Pages

The SAP Fiori launchpad for different products

The SAP Fiori launchpad is not a product you can buy separately, you get it together with different SAP solutions, such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP ABAP environment and Integrated Business Planning.

Adaptation and Extensibility

For both cloud and on-premise products, SAP offers extension possibilities for key users and for developers.

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition: (once 2502 is available, I will add a link to the new S/4 Cloud Developer Guide | SAP Help Portal
    • Key users and developers can use key user adaptation to easily make common changes and make the adapted apps available to all users. With key user adaptation, it’s possible to rearrange fields, change field labels, add fields or simple logic, hide existing fields and features, or embed external content, such as maps. Unlike personalization, changes made through key user adaptation apply to all app users. You can even publish UI changes as a separate app, known as an app variant, making it available to other users. For more information, see Adapting SAP Fiori UIs at Runtime - Key User Adaptation.

    • If you need to make more complex changes, such as adding fragments to extension points or aggregations, developers can extend an application using developer adaptation. For an overview of possible adaptations, see Developer Adaptation, and for more detailed information, see Extending SAP Fiori Applications.

    • When a new custom app is required, developers can build SAP Fiori applications for an OData service and make it accessible to business users from the SAP Fiori launchpad, see UI Development.

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition and SAP S/4HANA:
    • Key users and developers can use key user adaptation to easily make common changes and make the adapted apps available to all users. Check out the options for key users Adapting SAP Fiori UIs at Runtime - Key User Adaptation

For an overview of possible adaptations, see Developer Adaptation, and for more detailed information, see Extending SAP Fiori Applications
    • When a new custom app is required or if you want to enhance the launchpad with custom features, developers can follow the Developer Guide.

SAP Fiori launchpad, SAP Build Work Zone and SAP Mobile Start

For users that work mainly with one SAP solution, for example SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, the SAP Fiori launchpad offers a personalized entry point to the world of SAP S/4HANA.

SAP Build Work Zone, standard edition, on the other hand, can serve as central entry point to more than one SAP system - and of course you can reuse launchpad content from your SAP Fiori launchpad ('automatic content federation'). For more information, see SAP Build Work Zone | SAP Community.

SAP Mobile Start brings launchpad apps and capabilities to extended device types, such as wearables (smartwatches), foldable phones and Apple Vision Pro.
