One of the real pleasures from our recent BPI Tour was getting the chance to spend time with some of our wonderful partners. Both Signavio and SAP have always emphasized building and growing our partner networks, and hearing partners’ thoughts on how they work with us is always rewarding.
We only ever work with the very best partners, the organizations that bring genuine and tangible value to our customers. One of those organizations is systems integrator Infosys, which works with more than 2,000 global enterprises to help them with digital transformation and keeping up with changing business requirements.
As part of our BPI Tour Partner Fireside Chats,
rouven.moratoadam, General Manager, BPI, SAP, caught up with Vibhuti Dubey, SVP, Global Head of SAP, Infosys Ltd. Rouven and Vibhuti discussed the current market situation, the main challenges customers were facing, and how the partnership between the two organizations can help to address those challenges.
Rouven Morato: It’s a challenging environment right now – what trends do you see in the market?
Vibhuti Dubey: It had been a period of enormous change already, with organizations waking up to the need for transformation. But then the pandemic happened and made that change and transformation much more urgent, as well as bringing with it a whole host of fresh challenges.
But there are opportunities too. The environment and world around us are undergoing rapid change, making it possible for entirely new business processes and approaches. Enterprises are all trying to figure out what the next way of doing business will be. This means there is a real need for agility, resilience, and a focus on security.
RM: At SAP and Signavio, we talk about the intelligent enterprise. What does it take for a company to remain relevant and become an ‘intelligent enterprise’?
VD: I can’t stress enough the need to be nimble and agile. Organizations need to understand the changes impacting them both now and in the future and then create the enterprise capability required to take advantage of any new opportunities.
It’s not about reaching a destination either. Digital transformation and becoming an intelligent enterprise are more of a strategy and a state of constant evolution and improvement. That should be the aim.
RM: What’s the importance and value of process within transformation?
VD: There are two broad things required for successful transformations. An outward view, what is driving the transformation from a business perspective, what needs to happen to enable the enterprise? And then an internal view - how is the organization set up, and how can it make the whole application ecosystem support what the business needs? Both views are critical, and process plays a massive role.
The ability to track processes is also vital. Enterprises are highly complex entities, and you need to understand the key processes and how they flow through the business to move it forward.
RM: Can you talk about how you approach transformation?
VB: Infosys has been working on a vision for what digital transformation involves. We call it the Live Enterprise, bringing an element of sentience, constant learning, and development, supported by assets such as bespoke industry solutions and accelerators.
We offer 15 industry catalyst solutions, all tailored for critical processes for that industry, and a number of next-generation use cases enabled by machine learning and analytics.
The first thing we look at with clients is to define their core objective for transformation, followed by an analysis of the impact transformation will have.
RM: How does BPI feed into your offering, and how can it provide value?
VB: BPI is a very important element of our offering and drives continuous improvement. Because enterprises are so complex, it can take a while to understand what processes are working and which aren’t, which adhere to standards, and which are compliant.
We have done this for a long time, but BPI provides the capacity to understand this in more granular detail. This includes identifying process flaws and potential bottlenecks and setting up KPIs for processes, which helps determine what to address for transformation.
RM: What does the SAP partnership mean for Infosys?
VB: We’ve created a BPI Center of Excellence (CoE) within Infosys. It is staffed by the best experts, with the broadest knowledge of industry processes and a deep understanding of Signavio. We’ve married this expertise with industry requirements to set up industry-specific use cases for BPI, which help clients quickly use the toolset to develop meaningful analysis with which to jumpstart transformation and get even more value.
RM: How would you recommend customers to get started on transformation?
VB: Try a quick Proof of Concept to see how it works in the client environment and create an exercise to look at core processes. When you analyze, you can then see meaningful data with a meaningful output.
The new 300 campaign is perfect for this. 300 SAP customers can have free access to the entire BPI portfolio, allowing them to dip a toe into the
BPI world.
