This was my first opportunity to speak at the German User Group (DSAG) Technology Days event. I was delighted to see roughly 120 people at our session :

Citrix, Installing NWBC on
You can also install NWBC for Desktop on a Citrix server. There is some detailed documentation on exactly how to do this here: Citrix
CRM, Displaying CRM Web UI in NWBC
You can display CRM Web UI applications in NWBC. However, there are two different use cases to consider:
- If the end user uses CRM predominantly, then they should work in the CRM Web UI Client
- If the end user uses other ABAP applications predominantly (SAP GUI, Web Dynpro), and uses CRM occasionally, then they should use NWBC
Enterprise Search
The fuzzy search feature that Johannes showed in the demo is enabled by Enterprise Search (embedded). This does not require an additional license on top of your AS ABAP server.
To use SAP Enterprise Search as a search hub, you need an additional license.

Migrating from SAP GUI to NWBC: Roles
NWBC navigation is role-based, whereas SAP GUI doesn’t have to be. A lot of SAP GUI users manage navigation by means of the SAP menu, or by building complex structures in Easy Access Favorites. From NWBC 3.5 onwards, we have made the migration easier, by fully integrating both these in the NWBC navigation as this graphic shows:
SAP GUI for Windows, HTML, Java
NWBC for Desktop works with SAP GUI for Windows (embedded).
NWBC for HTML calls SAP GUI for HTML.
There are no plans at present to develop a version of NWBC that works with SAP GUI for Java, due to the prohibitive costs of development for such a project.
If you want to continue using SAP GUI for Java and benefit from NWBC, you have two options:
- Install NWBC for Desktop on a Citrix server (see above for more details)
- Support SAP GUI for Java with SAP NetWeaver Portal (for more details, see SAP NetWeaver Portal : Support for GUI Types )
