Below image summarizes important points on Joule
Joule is:
Joule is designed to helps people get work done faster and drive better business outcomes in a secure, compliant way.
Technically, Joule is a SaaS offering on SAP BTP.
Joule is embedded into various SAP applications, for example SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, from HR to finance, supply chain, procurement and customer experience, as well as into SAP Business Technology Platform. It will be pretrained with SAP business data and business processes.
Users may simply ask a question or frame a problem in plain language and receive intelligent answers drawn from the wealth of business data across the SAP portfolio and third-party sources, retaining context.
As shown in image below, Joule is embedded across various SAP solutions such as SAP S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Ariba, SAP Integrated Business Planning, SAP Build Code etc.
Joule offers four interaction patterns:
Transactional Interactions - This provides direct entry point to SAP, the backend system. Users can perform CRUD operations directly from Joule.
Example (Joule in SuccessFactors)
Prompt - “Change my address”
Navigational Interactions - It allows users to navigate directly where they want to go. This is especially helpful for users who are not very familiar navigating SAP applications.
Example (Joule in SuccessFactors)
Prompt – “Show me my organization details”
Informational Interactions – Joule provides knowledge-based results. For example, policy related questions, sales order related queries, team information etc.
Example (Joule in SuccessFactors)
Prompt - “How many leaves do I have this year?”
Analytical Interactions - SAP plans to introduce analytical interactions. This will enable analytical interactions based on JustAsk and SAP Analytics Cloud.
Example: “Show me the top five performing products by revenue this quarter."
Hope, by now you got clear idea on what exactly Joule is!
