Good Morning All,
NetWeaver Architects are always looking for definitive guidelines from SAP for scalable
futureproof upgrade friendly security compliant strategies for building and operating
SAP System Landscapes.
There are answers to these questions on a vertical solution level in most of the solution
specific Master Guides and Installation Guides.
I had never previously come across such a more horizontal guide.
There is a relatively new guide available from SAP, SMP logon is required, which goes into a lot of
detail on these subjects, it is called:
SAP Production System Strategy For Large Enterprises
the guide covers these areas:
. Harmonization, Consolidation and Centralization, Business and IT Benefits
. Best Practices from Large Enterprises for SAP ERP Financials and Operations
. Decision Path to an SAP Production System Strategy
. SAP MaxAttention IT Planning Instance Strategy
. Typical Myths and Underestimated Challenges
. Specific Considerations for key SAP Business Suite Applications
My opinion, this document is gold for all NetWeaver Architects and interested Basis Administrators
and Managers.
The document is here (SMP Logon needed).
This subject and Architects subjects like it are the reason why the new SCN NetWeaver Architecture
Category has been created which is here.
Everybody with any interest in the cross application component NetWeaver Architecture subject is welcomed and
encouraged to come over to the NetWeaver Architecture Category and post blogs, post questions and contribute
their knowledge to answering questions and sharing the combined knowledge on the Architecture subject to
the benefit of the community as a whole.
I came across this document while researching the real life challenge philosophised in this blog.
Enjoy the SAP Production System Strategy for Large Enterprises document and then come over
and engage at the SCN NetWeaver Architecture Category.
All the best,
Andy.
