SAP HANA Academy’s Tahir Hussain “Bob” Babar examines using data sourced from SAP HANA in offline mode in SAP Lumira. When choosing the offline option, “Download from SAP HANA”, a user’s data can easily be enriched and changed in SAP Lumira. However, after the data is downloaded any changes made to the original data source in SAP HANA will not be reflected in the work done in SAP Lumira.
Bob details how creating hierarchies is different in offline and online mode. For example, when creating a geographic hierarchy in offline mode, a user can easily enrich their data inside SAP Lumira. Bob showcases how to use the very useful “Replace” data option within the prepare data tab. Replacing data is a quick and effective way to solve the instances when data isn't found by SAP Lumira when creating geographic hierarchies. Bob also shows a simple way to group data together that can help to better organize the data for the type of geographic hierarchy a user is creating. Bob also demonstrates how to simply create a time hierarchy in offline mode.
Bob shows how to change the way data is displayed by using calculated attribute. In an example, Bob adds a “Q” in front of the "Quarter Number" attribute in the calculated attribute formula box to quickly change 1, 2, 3, and 4 into Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4.
Also, Bob informs that connecting to SAP HANA offline allows a user to save their work in the SAP Lumira Cloud.
Bob's tutorial video highlights the many advantages of working with data sourced from SAP HANA in offline mode and showcases how to quickly enrich and change data in SAP Lumira.
