The Advanced Copy Planning Area in SAP IBP allows you to create a new planning area by copying an existing one, including its configurations and dependencies. This feature is particularly useful for maintaining consistency across different planning areas or for creating a new planning area based on a successful existing model.

When you use the Advanced Copy option, you can choose to include dependencies such as:

  • Key Figures: These are the metrics and data points used in your planning calculations.
  • Attributes and Attribute Associations: These define the characteristics and relationships within your planning area.
  • Master Data Types: These are the foundational data structures that support your planning processes.

This process ensures that all relevant configurations are copied over, reducing the need for manual setup and minimizing the risk of errors.

Using dependencies in SAP IBP offers several benefits:

  1. Consistency: Ensures that all related configurations, such as key figures, attributes, and master data types, are copied accurately, maintaining consistency across planning areas.
  2. Efficiency: Reduces the need for manual setup, saving time and effort during the creation of new planning areas.
  3. Error Reduction: Minimizes the risk of errors by automatically including all necessary dependencies, ensuring that the new planning area functions correctly from the start.
  4. Scalability: Facilitates the scaling of planning processes by allowing easy replication of successful planning models.

These benefits help streamline the setup and maintenance of planning areas, making the overall planning process more robust and reliable.

Use Advanced Copy to Create a Planning Area

1. In the Model Configuration group, navigate to the Planning Areas Model Configuration area.

2. Select the source planning area, for example, TXX. From the toolbar on the top of the screen, choose the Copy link.

3. On the Copy screen, select the Create New with Dependencies option.

4. Enter the new planning area ID, Time profile, and target prefix.

5. New planning area created from copying existing planning area. (Time profile, Key figure, Attributes, Master Data Type and Versions are all copied)

Create Time Periods and Activate Time Profile

1. Using the Time Profiles app, activate time profile.

a. In the Time Profiles app, choose your time profile and choose the Activate on the toolbar at the top right side of the screen.

b. Check the progress in the log. Refresh the screen, and the status changes to Active.

2. Create time periods for your T## time profile with the application job.

a. In the General Planner section, select the Application Jobs app.

b. Choose Create and in Template Selection select template Create Time Periods for Time Profiles.

c. In the Parameter section, choose your Time Profile ID and select Schedule.

d. Choose Go to refresh and check the job status. The time period are created according to time profile.

Activate Your Planning Area

Load Master Data for Each Master Data Type in Planning Area

1. Using the Data Integration Jobs load data into I49CUSTOMER master data type.

a. On the SAP Fiori Home page of the Web UI, choose the Data Integration Jobs tile in the Administrator group.

b. At the bottom left of the screen, choose + (Add) and complete the dialog box using the data files.

c. Choose Save and ensure that you have a successful data load.

Load data into key figures

1. Load data into your key figures using the CSV files.

a. On the SAP Fiori Home page of the Web UI, choose the Data Integration Jobs tile.

b. At the bottom left of the screen, select + (Add) and complete the dialog box.

c. Choose Save and ensure that you have a successful data load.
