What’s covered?
This article is a brief of what is SAP Enable Now, deployment options, integration with S/4HANA and a few key points to note to stand up SAP Enable Now Manager instance from my experience. At the end, I have collated links and documents I referred to set up SAP Enable Now (SEN) Manager. There is a lot of content about the technical steps to set it up, so I am not repeating that.
SAP Companion and SAP Enable Now – are they synonymous?
Differentiating SAP Companion and SAP Enable Now is seemingly confusing a lot of us. In short, SAP Enable now is an application to create and publish help content while SAP Companion is the in-app help feature of SAP Enable now.
SAP Companion supports scenarios listed below for providing in application help content.
SAP Enable Now is a prerequisite for scenarios 2 and 3 where content is edited or created. SAP Enable Now Manager is an application to store and deploy customized or created content and then make it available as in-app help.
How to setup SEN Manager?
You can subscribe to a cloud tenant of SEN Manager or set it up on-prem like any other application.
Key pointers to setup (most apply to on-prem version)
SAP Enable Now Consumption Edition (SAP ENABLE NOW CONSUMPT), which includes Manager (both HANA and SQL versions), Instant Producer, SLC Player, and SAP Companion for desktop (Formerly named Desktop Assistant, formerly named Navigator).
SAP Enable Now Manager 10.0.0 requires a license key.
Refer note 2631222 - How to create a license key for SAP Enable Now (on-premise) on how to generate a license key.
Both Cloud and on-prem versions work without SSO. Ensure you open the Enable Now Manager in a separate tab on the same browser to avoid 401 unauthorized errors to access or edit help content on UI5 apps.
All parameters and their possible values are available on SAP Enable Now Wiki. The parameter combination that worked for me for Custom content scenario is available in references.
