SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS00 - Technical Upgrade and Approach

I would like to share our experience with S/4HANA 2023 upgrade, where we had opportunity to upgrade one of customer S/4HANA 2020 FPS02 landscape to 2023 FPS00 version recently.

SAP considers the 2023 version of SAP S/4HANA to become a “go-to-version”, as it will deliver the next step of product maturity and concluding with major overhauls. In consideration of this important next step, SAP is offering customers choice regarding the how and when they want to upgrade to SAP S/4HANA 2023

2214409 - SAP S/4HANA: Compatible Add-Ons

SAP S/4HANA will change to a two-year release cycle and A longer seven years of mainstream maintenance per release:

SAP S/4HANA releases prior to release 2023 follow a yearly cycle, i.e. every year there is a major release for SAP S/4HANA. Every release has a five-year mainstream maintenance phase after which it enters the customer-specific maintenance phase.

Starting from SAP S/4HANA 2023, SAP plans to deliver a new major release every two years and mainstream maintenance will be extended from five to seven years.

Upgrade Information

You can upgrade from SAP S/4HANA, on-premise edition 1511, SAP S/4HANA 1610, SAP S/4HANA 1709, SAP S/4HANA 1809, SAP S/4HANA 1909, SAP S/4HANA 2020, SAP S/4HANA 2021 or SAP S/4HANA 2022 to SAP S/4HANA 2023.
The Zero Downtime Option (ZDO) of SUM is general available with SUM 2.0 and released for upgrades from start release SAP S/4HANA 2020 and higher, as well as for Feature Pack / Support Package updates on SAP S/4HANA release 2020 and higher.

Conversion Information

System conversions are supported from SAP ERP 6.0 to SAP Enhancement Package 8 for SAP ERP 6.0.

The minimum Support Package level of the underlying SAP NetWeaver release for running a system conversion to SAP S/4HANA needs to be:

After the latest version of Notes are downloaded and if we refresh the Note Analyzer result screen, the status of the notes may change in accordance with the latest version. The Action column now indicates “Implement”. Implemented all the notes in Development System and transport into subsequent systems.
