From January 2021, a new set of OEM adapters were launched. These adapters enable SAP Cloud Integration to extend its integration capabilities towards the following applications.

  • Salesforce

  • Amazon Web Services

  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM

  • Sugar CRM



In the coming weeks, we will be introducing you to each of these adapters in a series of blog posts. The blog posts will be focussing on the configuration of adapters and their role in realizing common use cases for each of these applications. First, we would like to answer some general questions, applicable to these adapters.

Why these adapters?

  • The adapters are included as part of your SAP Integration Suite and SAP Cloud Integration license and there are no extra costs. You can download them via the Service Market place.

  • The adapter features and functionalities are built to run on both Neo and Cloud Foundry.

  • The adapters stay close to the integration guidelines of the concerned 3rd party application. This provides complete transparency in implementation by avoiding any in-built unnecessary orchestrations. This also provides developers with full control to implement their own orchestrations using standard SAP Cloud Platform Integration features.

  • The adapter configuration gives you insights into the operation/API which is called towards the 3rd party application while keeping in mind SAP’s integration best practices.

  • The adapters will remain compatible and leverage future development in SAP Integration Suite and SAP Cloud Integration.

  • The adapters will be updated periodically, and customers can leverage a fast innovation cycle. The upgrades will cover 3rd Party API enhancements along with SAP CPI Platform enhancements.

  • The adapters are fully integrated into the SAP Integration Suite and SAP Cloud Integration, and leverage standard features like dynamic properties, headers, etc.

  • The adapters are equipped with an Eclipse Plug-in/Workbench to generate XSDs based on the customers' 3rd party application tenant. This includes custom fields, custom objects, fields cardinalities, etc. The XSDs generated by the Eclipse Plug-in/Workbench are operation dependent and contain the fields that are relevant for the specified operation.

  • The adapter support is well integrated with the Support of SAP Integration Suite and SAP Cloud Integration. The tickets can be raised and managed centrally via the same ticketing system that you already use for SAP Integration Suite.

All documentation, including the Installation Guide and the User Guide are included in the ZIP file downloaded from SAP Software Download Center. The ZIP file can be download from the Service Market place by following the steps below:

Hi Bilay,

thanks for highlighting the background of introducing these adapters.

We are CPI Enterprise Edition customers and have the problem that there is not yet a feature parity compared to the previous 3rd party OEM SFDC adapter.

Also, it seems with CPI EE we have only access to the BASE PACK. Could you please explain the difference between ADVANCE and BASE PACK?

Thank you for your reply. The new adapters strive for feature parity. And we are prioritizing features based on customer demand. In the roadmap, there are a lot of features planned for the next few weeks. One being the sender adapter, which is planned to be available very soon. I will welcome the opportunity to discuss your scenarios with you. Can you please open a ticket under component “LOD-HCI-PI-CON-TPRO”? Based on this ticket, the team will reach out to further discuss with you.

When it comes to the difference between the base and advanced pack; normally the Advanced pack is only available for SAP Integration Suite standard and premium edition customers. Whereas, the base pack is for everyone with a Cloud Integration subscription.

My team already has a ticket open, thanks for offering that.

So do I understand it correctly that there is no difference in adapter features between base and advanced pack - it is just about the kind of subscription?

  2. Is the SAP Help Documentation for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Amazon AWS, Salesforce available on the below link provides the details about the new set of OEM adapters ?

Hello john_bilay ,

thanks for the good news. One more question: In the CPI help there is also an "Kafka adapter" listed. Unfortunately it isn't available in our tenants nor is it part of the adapter pack. Since now, I was only aware of the 3rd party Kafka adapter by Advantco. So how to interpret the reference to a Kafka adapter in the SAP help? Does it mean that there will be an official SAP-owned Kafka adapter in the near future?

Do you know if such SAP standard adapters (in our case AWS adapter) will be also offered soon for SAP PO ?

so in addition to SAP Partner ones like Advantco and KaTe.

I have an issue. Maybe my user is missing some authorizations?

Hope you are doing good!

Can you please help me understand if the Microsoft Dynamics CRM adapter can be used to integrate with Dynamics CRM on-prem version or not? If yes, then

  1. Does it mean the on-prem Dynamics CRM should be facing public IP? I am not sure if cloud connector can be used or not.

  2. How do we achieve the App registration step to get Client ID and Directory ID?
