Carinthia's IT expert, especially for SAP data integration and interface developments, Bernhard Supanz explains the most important IT trends for the new year and reveals what will be new.

Where do you see the IT trends in 2013?
Bernhard Supanz: Every year many lists of possible IT trends are circulating on the internet. In addition to outsourcing, in-memory computing, Internet of Things, security and email archiving this year three trends are clearly at the top: Cloud computing, mobility and big data.

Can you explain briefly the three trends?
Supanz: Cloud computing is a big development. The cloud, so the computer cloud, helps companies to remain flexible and react quickly to changes. Integrated IT environments may not be replaced by it. The second trend, mobility supports the business dynamic. More and more employees use their personal mobile devices in the workplace, this trend will accelerate in the coming years. A perennial favorite is the third trend: big data. This topic is and remains for companies both strategically and technologically interesting. Big data is all about the purpose and benefits of various enterprise data and ratios. These are the basis for meaningful and complex data analysis and reports.

Where do you personally see great opportunities in the development?
Supanz: A great potential offer cloud and mobility. This is also shown by the sales of our products. "BS-S Connecting Services" has been accepted very well. Via the Internet, this SAP ERP enterprise software can be use also by SMEs very cheaply. Since September 2012, our SAP application "BS-S Interaction Mobile" is in the App Store. It is a showcase of the SAP-certified "BS-S Interaction Framework © Program Generator", by which it is possible, to make available also the standard ERP business transactions for mobile devices (without programming). This rapid procedure is surprisingly novel and stunned quite a few IT professional.

Mobility also poses many risks. How do you see that?
Supanz: indeed with the increasing mobility the risks of data loss or even data theft increase. Still, I find that the benefits of mobile working outweigh, when the issue of safety is adequately observed. Increased productivity, cost savings, increased flexibility and accessibility, as well as faster response time make businesses more competitive. With our SAP application "BS-S Interaction Mobile" potential security vulnerabilities have been considered: Supanz apps are Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) for mobile devices. That means, the employee receives provided only transactions that he needs. In addition, the access security for the individual needs can be set up specifically. The necessary security measures will be implemented with the SAP and network engineers, since only a single BS-S web service for all transactions to the outside is necessary.

On which trend you set increasingly in your own business?
The software factory Supanz remains committed to the trend of mobility, including the HTML 5 technology. Apps can thus be applied easily to a wide variety of mobile devices and operating systems. Our goal is a management app with which you can retrieve the latest company information according to individual criteria and can provide as local data for further analysis and cross comparisons.
