SAP Master Data Governance is a powerful solution to improve the quality and consistency of information across organisations by consolidating and centrally governing master data. Syniti Rapid Data Governance (RDG) is a SAP Certified accelerator that automates multiple MDG tasks such as Data Model Maintenance, Workflow Design and Business Rules in an intuitive, elegant, and graphical interface so that even users with no technical experience can use it.

Depending on business requirements, Syniti RDG will allow users to implement Dynamic and Parallel steps for complex workflow scenarios automating the tedious tasks of workflow maintenance in a traditional approach.

Typically, a user would follow the SAP provided guide to customize the workflow traditionally for a parallel scenario. Link to the document:

Set up Parallel Workflow Tasks with BRF+ (BADI USMD_SSW_PARA_RESULT_HANDLER)

These steps include:

  • Creating a new change request type.
  • Defining service names
  • Populating BRF+ Single, User and Non-User Agent tables.
  • Create Enhancement implementation for BAdIs to customize Parallel and Dynamic tasks.
  • USMD_SSW_SERVICE_PROCESSOR
  • USMD_SSW_SYSTEM_METHOD_CALLER
  • USMD_SSW_DYNAMIC_AGENT_SELECT
  • Create filter and set service names for BAdIs as conditions.

Some of the standard screens to customize parallel and dynamic workflow included in above guide: 1pritikar_0-1706612494420.png2pritikar_1-1706612494424.png

With RDG, user can easily handle the steps included in guide having no prior experience in BRF+ application, Decision Tables and ABAP programming to implement BAdIs as RDG automates the entire implementation of BAdIs, and BRF+ tables to handle Dynamic and Parallel workflow tasks in single user friendly and intuitive UI Screen.

Steps to set up initial workflow in RDG is mentioned in the blog here:

RDG Simplifies Rule-Based Workflow Maintenance

Below are the additional steps to perform in RDG for Dynamic and Parallel workflow tasks:

  • The user can now assign approvers and create Dynamic and Parallel Flow steps according to the requirements for workflow selecting from the list. 3pritikar_2-1706612494426.png
  • For a Parallel workflow Scenario, when all company codes are to be approved by its corresponding owners, we choose company code as attribute from the entity BP_CUS_CC entity and give list of company codes for which the approvals are necessary. Workflow requests will be sent to all the approvers parallelly.

Select Parallel Flow from the list.

  • Click Add Attribute to choose entity and attribute.4pritikar_3-1706612494427.png

  • Click on Add Rule to add a row for details. Enter the Company Codes and Approval steps.   5pritikar_4-1706612494429.png
  •  Similarly, in Dynamic scenario the request is routed dynamically based on the values of sales organisation, distribution channel. Select Dynamic Rules from the list. Choose entities and attributes required.6pritikar_5-1706612494430.png
  • On save of the workflow, BRF decision tables are created and populated automatically for rule based parallel and dynamic workflow. 7pritikar_6-1706612494432.png

Thus, a Rule Based Workflow can be maintained even for complex scenarios in RDG with no prior knowledge in ABAP and BRF+.
