SAP Datasphere News in November
Another month with two great new releases ✨
Learn more in my short top features video in November2025 on YouTube 📺 and a recap from SAP TechEd this year in the blog 📝 below, where you also find more details about the foundational learning journey – Becoming an SAP Data Architect.

This small enhancement is very powerful and my favorite feature of November. You can now use values in custom attributes provided by your identity provider as identifiers in your data access controls and define conditions that apply to users with these values. Why is that powerful? Because using these attributes allows you to apply a single condition to all users whose accounts contain the specified attribute value. In other words, you can group users with attributes to assign permissions to a group instead of individual users.

When an elastic compute node is starting or stopping, you can now cancel the process. The data is rolled back and restored to the state that existed before the start or stop process was initially triggered.
➡️ More information.
You can increase the maximum number of parallel jobs up to 16 to run replication flows. Before, that maximum was 10, so this increase is helpful when you need more parallelization for certain flows.

The aggregation types MIN, MAX, COUNT*, and AVG have been added to the already existing types LAST, SUM, and COUNT.

From the Local Tables (File) monitor, you can now cancel a merge task that is running with a new Cancel button.
➡️ More information.
When creating a local table (file) from the table editor or as a target of your transformation flow, you can disable the delta capture settings.

I had the opportunity to be onsite in Berlin at SAP TechEd 2025 as well as in Sydney for SAP TechEd on tour. It was great to see so many people in person at both events. After many years of virtual TechEd’s this was excellent. Not only meeting many friends but also having those inspiring discussions with new people from various customers, partners, and also colleagues from SAP.
Session DA203 together with Dominik Kurz was recorded as part of the virtual SAP TechEd and can be watched here:

Happy to share that my deep dive session “The impact of SAP Business Data Cloud on SAP Datasphere users” made it to the top 5 most attended sessions overall in Berlin. In general, all sessions around SAP Business Data Cloud drew high participation and our colleagues at the SAP BDC booth were also busy until the last minute on Thursday afternoon.
A highlight was certainly the partnership announcement with Snowflake. The announcement covers two flavors brownfield and greenfield scenarios.
(1) Brownfield: enabling Snowflake systems to be connected via BDC connect, targeted for GA in H1 2026
(2) Greenfield: offering SAP Snowflake on the SAP pricelist as a solution extension, targeted for Q1 2026
A week after TechEd we also announced a partnership with Microsoft at Microsoft Ignite, enabling Microsoft Fabric to be connected via BDC connect, targeted for GA in H3 2026.
That covers now Databricks, Snowflake, Google and Microsoft as technology partners for SAP Business Data Cloud Connect. Not much missing here from my point of view.
This is a great learning opportunity for all you data architects out there‼️
Kudos to the learning team together with our architectural experts!
The foundational Learning Journey of becoming an SAP Data Architect is the first step in a comprehensive program designed to empower data professionals and architects of the future. This new learning journey provides a structured path to develop the knowledge, frameworks, and strategic mindset needed to design, govern, and communicate enterprise-scale data architectures.
The learning journey is built to create strong Data Architecture foundations moving from foundational principles to strategic business impact. Learners will gain both architectural knowledge and understanding that is essential for any modern data architect and covers the following four units:
🔹Foundational Concepts Learn the core principles and frameworks of data architecture from conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling to metadata management and frameworks.
🔹Modern Paradigms & Integration Explore today’s architectural models like Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and Lakehouse and design integration strategies (ETL, ELT, and streaming) for scalable, real-time analytics.
🔹Governance, Security & Strategic Impact Build governance frameworks, establish data lineage, safeguard privacy, and align data strategy with business objectives for measurable value.
🔹Communicating Data Value Strengthen communication and storytelling skills to articulate architectural value, design transformation roadmaps, and drive organizational adoption of data-driven change.
In a world where data is at the core of every business decision, the role of the Data Architect has become critical.
This learning journey helps professionals at every level develop the skills, language, and strategic vision to lead in data architecture and governance.
