Overview

We will be introducing a new feature that gives an Administrator the ability to disable Welcome emails for newly created users. Welcome emails are sent as a very last step during the user creation process to provide information and links to SAP Analytics Cloud or SAP Datasphere.

What Business Problem are we trying to solve?

Some reasons why Administrators and organizations want this feature:

  • Fine-grained control over email communications for users
  • Reducing email traffic to users as a company policy
  • During testing, you may want to load real users into the SAC/DSP system but you don’t want them receiving email alerts.
  • Mass imports of users through SCIM

What is the solution?

In QRC3 2024, you will see a new option to disable welcome emails in the System > Administration > Notifications area (in both SAC and Datasphere)

The default value is ON for welcome emails. If you toggle this off, then emails will not be sent when a user is created through the UI, CSV Upload, API (SCIM V1/V2) and SAML Dynamic User Creation.

FAQ’s

Q: How does a new user activate / set a password for their account without a Welcome email?

A: In this scenario, SAC is configured with the SAP provided IDP such as https://cloudanalytics.accounts.ondemand.com/ and click Forgot Password. This will send a separate activation email.
