Scenario: Creating Multiple Workspaces in CBC

You may want to create both Evaluation and Implementation type Workspaces in CBC and switch between them as needed. Here's a quick guide on how to do it and some limitations to keep in mind.

Key Points to Remember

  1. Multiple Workspaces, Multiple Tabs:

    • You can create multiple both Evaluation and Implementation type Workspaces in CBC.
    • You can switch between these Workspaces or open them in different browser tabs.

  2. Deployment Targets – Limited Number:

    • The number of deployment targets you can assign to your Workspaces is limited depending on your system landscape (3-system or 2-system landscape setup).

Deployment Targets in a 3-System Landscape:

  • Evaluation Project:
    • 1 Starter Customizing Tenant
    • 1 Starter Development Tenant
  • Implementation Project:
    • 1 Customizing Tenant
    • 1 Development Tenant

In this case, you have 4 different tenants that can be assigned to your Evaluation and Implementation Workspaces.

Deployment Targets in a 2-System Landscape:

  • Evaluation Project:
    • You can assign a deployment target to your Starter System.
  • Implementation Project (split into phases):
    • Scope and Organizational Structure Phase: Assign a deployment target to your Quality System.
    • Product-Specific Configuration Phase: Assign a deployment target to your Production System.

Who Can Create a Project?

  • Only Program Managers and Project Managers have the authorization to create new Workspaces in CBC.
  • The user who creates the project is automatically assigned to it.

Important Notes:

  • You can manage multiple Workspaces in CBC but remember that the number of deployment targets is limited based on your system landscape.
  • Make sure you're clear on which system (starter, customizing, development, quality, or production) needs to be assigned in each project phase.
