Unlock the full value with Joule’s native integration to your data in SAP Business Data Cloud. This integration ensures insights are governed, current, and compliant with your organization’s access policies.
Ask questions the way you speak. Joule understands business language and turns it into visual answers, enabling more people to confidently engage with data.
Access analytical insights directly within existing SAP applications, reducing the need to switch between platforms. This seamless integration ensures that insights are delivered in the context of current workflows, enhancing productivity and decision-making.
By leveraging these benefits, organizations can drive faster, more data-informed decisions, foster a data-driven culture, and achieve strategic growth through informed decision-making.
Joule is designed to interpret and respond to a wide range of natural language analytical queries. Here are some examples of supported question formats:
While Joule’s analytical insights are versatile, the actual response is based on the data made available by the data administrators, who are also responsible for the data quality.
In environments with multiple data models, Joule helps ensure the right one is used.
Model Selection by Users: Users can specify which model to query by adding the model's name to their question. This ensures that the system retrieves data from the intended source. Alternatively, if multiple models match the user’s query, Joule will ask for their intended model.
With analytical insights in Joule, SAP continues to empower businesses to harness the full potential of their data, fostering a culture of informed decision-making and operational excellence.
Analytical insights are powered by the "just ask" feature of SAP Analytics Cloud. Here, data (models) can be indexed to make them accessible for analysis in Joule. Administrators control which models are available to their business users, ensuring that the insights provided are relevant and tailored to the organization's needs.
Supported Models: Analytical insights in Joule currently supports SAP Datasphere models, which are surfaced via a tunneled SAP Datasphere connection as part of a Business Data Cloud setup. Additionally, indexed acquired models can be queried.
Adding Models: Administrators must add relevant acquired models and SAP Datasphere analytic models to just ask through the "Manage Models" area in SAP Analytics Cloud.
Synonym Mapping: To make queries more intuitive, administrators can define synonyms for model entities and dimension values. This helps users ask questions in familiar business terminology, such as mapping "revenue" to "total sales".
Rules for Context-Aware Responses: Rules can be defined to adjust answers when the query lacks explicit context. For example, if a user asks, "Show me client visits and travel expenses," the rule can automatically add "by sales agents" for a more relevant response.
Only models indexed by administrators are accessible through Joule. All interactions are observing the data security and compliance defined by SAP Business Data Cloud.

Setup Guide
The analytical insights feature in Joule will support SAP Datasphere live data sources outside of SAP Business Data Cloud in the future. Further, additional languages will be supported. We also continue investing in the natural language understanding, so that more complex or semantically rich questions can be answered.
*Analytical insights in Joule is not available when access to SAP Analytics Cloud is granted via licenses for SAP LOB applications in embedded analytics scenarios
