With the SP16 release, we have enhanced the transport-related checks available in the Generic Application (UI5). Until SP11, only ATC checks were supported, and users relied heavily on the CRM Web UI for all other validations. In this blog post, I will walk you through what has changed in SP16, which checks are now available directly in the Generic UI application
Previously, the Generic application supported only ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) checks, meaning users had to switch to the CRM Web UI for other essential validations. As of SP16, SAP has enabled the full set of transport-related checks directly within the Generic application. This includes:
Down-Grade Protection (DGP) Checks
Critical Object Checks
Cross Reference Checks (CRC)
ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC)
Code Inspector Checks (CIC)
These checks are now accessible in My Work Items, My Change Documents, and My Defect Corrections.
You can refer to SAP’s documentation for deeper technical details: Performing Transport-Related Checks | SAP Help Portal
To review detailed information for each check or perform additional actions, users can still navigate to the CRM Web UI, which continues to provide the most comprehensive view of transport results.
However, it’s important to note that:
DGP and CRC checks are not available in My Defect Corrections, because Focused Build Defect Corrections do not use an Urgent Change workflow or Preliminary Import workflow.
Even so, as of SP16, the Transport-Related Checks tab is now available in My Defect Corrections for ATC, Critical Object, and Code Inspector checks.
To get more details about each of the checks and to perform actions on the check, you need to navigate to the CRM Web UI.
A major usability improvement in SP16 is the ability to run transport-related checks directly from the Generic application.
The "Perform Check" button in the Transport-Related Checks tab now triggers a background job—similar to the CRM Web UI—to execute all relevant checks for the associated Work Item, Defect Correction, or Change Document.
This enhancement removes the need to switch to CRM Web UI and allows users to work more efficiently within a single interface.
With SP16, we have taken a significant step toward improving the user experience by making all major transport-related checks available directly in the Generic application.
If you have questions about these new capabilities or want to share your experiences with SP16, feel free to leave a comment—I’d be happy to discuss further!
