To support this need, our latest BI 2025 release introduces significant improvements to the BI Launchpad by integrating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) directly onto your homepage. This advancement provides instant visibility of crucial business metrics and report insights, enabling you to make timely and accurate decisions without navigating multiple reports or manually refreshing reports.
What's New?
A Personalized KPI Dashboard
BI Launchpad now features a dedicated area specifically designed to showcase your pinned charts and KPIs. Customize this space effortlessly by clicking the pencil icon and renaming tabs to match your unique workflow.
Creating Tiles: Quick and Easy
You can pin KPI tiles to your BI Launchpad homepage through two convenient methods:
Method 1: Using OpenDocument URLs
Pin any KPI directly by configuring the OpenDocument URL:
1. Go to My Tiles in BI Launchpad.
2. Click (+) to open the Tile Configuration.
3. Provide a clear, concise tile name (up to 50 characters).
4. Set up your OpenDocument URL with key parameters:
- CUID (Report Identifier)
- mode=Part
- sReportPart
- sType
- refresh (optional)
-sInstance(optional)
Getting Latest Data from Reports:
- Fetch the latest report instances automatically by passing Opendocument sInstance(e.g., Last, User, or Param).
5.Add ToolTip for Tiles
6.Validate URLs instantly to ensure accuracy.
Method 2: Directly from Web Intelligence (WebI)
Pin KPIs right from your Web Intelligence documents:
- Reading View: Click the pin icon on the floating toolbar.
- Design View: Right-click a report part and choose Pin to Home.
Things to Note:
- Documents must be saved first (URL references existing document CUID).
- Tiles automatically capture advanced tooltips from your WebI documents.
Managing Tiles and Instances Effortlessly
Default Tile Limits:
- Each user can pin up to five tiles.
- Administrators can increase this limit up to ten.
Smart URLs and Prompts:
By default, tiles open the latest report instance. However, you can manually customize tile URLs to show specific scheduled instances or prompt-driven reports. If prompt values aren’t pre-set, tiles will conveniently prompt users interactively when opened.
Example Customized URL:
http://<YOURSYTEM:PortNumber>/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=[Your_Report_ID]&mode=Part&sRefresh=N&sInstance=Param&lsMEnter value(s) for Year=2015
Keep Your Data Fresh
Tiles come with a convenient refresh option. By default, clicking refresh simply reloads the latest saved instance. If you require fresh data:
- Edit the tile’s URL parameter from sRefresh=N to sRefresh=Y.
- Note that full data refreshes may cause delays—use this wisely.
Useful Tile Actions at Your Fingertips:
- Edit Properties: Adjust settings anytime.
- Go to Document: Directly navigate to your source report.
- Duplicate: Quickly copy existing configurations.
- Refresh: Control when your data updates.
- Maximize: Get an expanded view of your KPI tile, including interactive tooltips.
Make Tiles Your Default Landing Page
Prefer instant access to your KPIs? Set the Tiles Section as your BI Launchpad homepage with these simple steps:
1. Click your User Profile → Settings.
2. Go to Account Preferences.
3. Turn off "Use Administrator Provided Settings".
4. Under Landing Page Preferences, select:
- Home Page: Custom Group
- Landing Group: KPI
- List Documents as: Tile View (Note: List View is not supported).
5. Click Save.
Admin Tips: Managing Tiles Effectively
Set Maximum Tiles:
- Admins can log in to the Central Management Console (CMC) → Applications → BI Launchpad to configure tile limits (up to 10).
Disable Pinning (Optional):
- Uncheck "Enable Pin to Homepage" in the same location if needed.
With these enhancements in the BI 2025 release, BI Launchpad transforms how you interact with data, putting your most crucial insights right at your fingertips.
