[Update // July 6, 2021] Congrats to all the winners!

Congratulations to all the winners of the badge. You can see a list of winners -- and a bonus chance to earn the badge to those who at least completed the tutorial -- here:https://blogs.sap.com/2021/07/06/congrats-to-winners-of-crossover-learner-badge/?update=publish

[Update // May 27, 2021] First winners!

We have awarded our first Crossover Learner badges and we enjoyed all the wonderful words of encouragement (and even the request for more Basis tutorials)! Thanks for all the warm words 🙂

Here's how the badge looks in your profile (thanks svea.becker, and congratulations):

IMPORTANT: Some of you have done the tutorial, but have not commented on this blog, and some of you have done the tutorial but not voted on (any) question or answer. Make sure to do all 3 parts of this mission to get the badge.

——

Have you completed a few SAP Tutorials but have yet to engage in the community? Or maybe you have written a few blogs posts or answered a few questions but have never explored the SAP Tutorial Navigator?

Well, for you, we now have the Crossover Learner mission that will make you a dual threat -- an SAP learner of the latest technologies and active member of the SAP Community -- both activities that will help you up your SAP game.

Limited Time!    Badge available until June 30!

What's in it for you?

You'll get introduced to the SAP Tutorials, hundreds of new and tested tutorials about some of the most current SAP technologies -- SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Business Technology Platform, SAP Business Application Studio, SAP Conversational AI, the Mobile Development Kit, and more. There are also cool end-to-end scenarios, where you can learn how to build a CAP app with SAP Fiori on SAP BTP.

The tutorials are written by some of our most-knowledgeable authors, including developer advocates like thomas.jung and dj.adams as well as product experts like iwona.hahn, jitendrakumar.kansal, daniel.vanleeuwen, and, well, yours truly.

At the same time, you'll get re-introduced to the SAP Community and see how much fun -- and helpful -- it is to not only read great content (like this blog post) but also to actually engage with other members of the community.

What you can win?

This lovely badge, in your SAP profile -- show it to all your friends and colleagues.

How long will it take?

About 15 minutes. Really.

(Full disclosure: This counts the 2 minute to read this blog, but not the time you spend exploring and doing SAP Tutorials after you get hooked.)

What do you have to do?

Ah, glad you asked.

  1. Complete the tutorial Get to Know SAP Tutorials, and get a quick tour of the SAP Tutorials.

  2. Go to any question in Answers and vote on any single question or answer.

Voting helps others in the community better find useful questions and answers.

  3. After you complete the tutorial, come back to this blog post and add a comment of how it was to complete the tutorial. Write what you think of the collection of tutorials in general, the tutorial navigator, how the tutorials work, what you'd like to see different, or any other comments you want. (Don't just be polite -- say what you think.)

You'll need to be signed in with your SAP account, and in case you don't have one, you can create one by clicking the person icon in the top right of the page.

That's it. Simple, 1-2-3.

Enjoy.

Hi Daniel,

I found it quite interesting.

I just finished the tutorial "Build Your First Chatbot with SAP Conversational AI".

During this time, I had few questions and confusion. Do we have an option for the instant support also to clear our doubts?

Kind regards,

ANKIT CHAUHAN

Let me know what your questions are. I'm happy you completed the chatbot tutorial, but just make sure you complete the Get to Know SAP Tutorials for the badge 🙂

I love this!  What a great way to introduce the tutorials.   I have found some  of them well worth doing as they actually walk me through a question or issue I was having.  (And some I didn't know I had) Still never forget one of my favorite ways to learn open.sap.com  🙂

Until today, I did only the SAP Community tutorials so this was a great learning experience for me 🙂

Great idea to introduce the tutorials like that - I hope many community members will try this one out, too!

Thank you.

There are some amazing tutorials in developers.sap.com. It's great to find out about this blog in "SAP Community Voice" newsletter.

Thanks - I enjoyed the structured guidance instead of just hacking it.  Sad I couldn't find any Data Warehouse Cloud content, or even the same content/missions from SAPHanaJourney.

I used the Tutorial Navigator and tried the "Build Your First Chatbot with SAP Conversational AI." tutorial.  I didn't know I would be able to actually work in a test system to see the bot train and perform, it was a fun thing to build.  The navigator seems very intuitive.

Glad you did tutorial, hope you enjoyed it, and hope you’ll do other tutorials (especially SAP Conversational AI 🙂

Can you open the tutorial, log in and check that the steps are all green? Did you get a pop up that you completed the tutorial? And finally did you do the 2 actions in the community?

No, for this badge, you only have to do the one tutorial listed in the blog (no SAP Conversational AI tutorials). But you need also to complete the 2 community tasks. We'll be awarding the next bunch of badges next week.

Hi daniel.wroblewski ,

Thanks for this blog post.

And let me tell you that i was not at all surprised to know that you have actually worked as a Journalist at a point in your career. Because only a journalist can think of such an eye-catching title for the blog post.

Thanks for sharing this great blog. It would be great to see more tutorials on the core ABAP language to help those who are starting out in learning ABAP.

Finished the tutorial on "Get to Know SAP Tutorials".

Thanks.

Finished "Get to Know SAP Tutorials" and " Build Your First Chatbot with SAP Conversational AI"

I'm an easy mark for gamified learning, so I see myself completing many more tutorials (and learning beyond my immediate interests).

Tutorial "Get to Know SAP Tutorials" was very helpful for me as I had none previous experience with SAP Tutorials.
I was fossicking for S4 basis & HANA db tutorials, IMO more attention should be given to basis topics.

Thanks for the comment (did I write that I was a journalist?). It's actually a lost art, writing headlines - I wrote them before WYSIWIG and you had to try to estimate the size. My favorite headline was for an article about how the record was set with 4 holes-in-one during a single round of the US Open:

Four! Hole in One Record at U.S. Open

I think the tutorials are useful, and the missions are a good way of 'forcing' users to do something (the 'gamification' of earning badges is nice - a bit 'gimmicky' but people seem to like them). What I'd really like to see is some way of integrating this within SAP Enable Now (SEN), as a lot of training content is now being delivered using that. I can see some simple ways to do provide a step-based mission in SEN, bit not recording the results and awarding badges. Maybe you could talk to the SEN development team and see what they can come up with? If they can find a way of providing Tutorials/Missions using SEN (so they could then be built by customers who have SEN), it could be a win-win for everyone.

Great post! Love the feedback options too.

It took a while to mature the gamification of learning, loving it now since it's more clear and less cumbersome.

Hi Daniel,

I completed the tutorial. Nice work.
I am a big fan of the tutorials and missions. I already completed a lot last year, a lot more to do (not too many this year due to lack of time - I didn't get 48 hours days from Santa, probably I was in the naughty list).
I am recommending the tutorial to my colleagues - people can learn more and help more too.
I would say that SAP Tutorials and OpenSAP are really helpful tools to learn SAP products.

Kind regards,
Cris
