Let’s be honest, when you’re deep into task management in SAP Cloud ALM, the last thing you want is to go on a tab-hunting mission.

If you’ve worked with tasks that had multiple associations like test cases, documents, requirements, and so on, you probably know what I’m talking about. Until recently, each of these lived in its own separate tab on the task type detail page. And while that may have seemed like a good idea at first, it came with a few annoying side effects:

  • Too many tabs cluttering the screen
  • Hard to find the right one (especially on smaller displays)
  • Just plain overwhelming when you're in the middle of getting work done

So... What’s Changed?

Now, all those scattered tabs are gone.
Instead, we’ve introduced a much cleaner and smarter way to see everything that’s related to a task, all in one place.

Say Hello to the Relations Tab

This new tab replaces all those individual relation tabs and brings everything together in a neat, organized view.

Here’s how it works:

  • Everything’s in one tab: No more switching between different tabs. Just go to Relations.
  • Dropdown for related items: You’ll see all associated items—like test cases, documents, features, etc.—as a simple dropdown list.
  • Click to go directly to what you need: Select an item and jump straight to the related object.
  • Counts included: Next to each item, you’ll see how many are linked. For example: “5 Test Cases”, “2 Documents”, “1 Feature”.

What’s Not in the Relations Tab

To keep things focused and uncluttered, only relationship-based content appears in the Relations tab. Some task-specific details still live outside of it and for good reason.

Here’s what you’ll still find in their dedicated sections:

  • Description: The main summary or details about the task stay at the top of the task page.
  • Accelerators and References: These assets are still available in their own section to keep them easy to find and separate from task-to-task relationships.
  • Additional Information: Any extra contextual info that supports the task but isn’t a direct relationship is also kept outside the Relations tab.

This approach keeps the Relations tab clean and focused only on navigable, connected objects so you get exactly what you need without the noise.

Why This Is a Big Deal (Even Though It Looks Small)

On the surface, this might feel like a minor UI tweak, But trust me, it makes a big difference when you're working day-to-day. Here’s why:

  • It’s way easier to use - Everything is right where you need it. No guessing, no tab-hopping.
  • You save time - Click less, scroll less, and get to the info faster.
  • It’s less overwhelming - With a single, focused view, it’s easier to see the full picture without being buried in tabs.
  • Works great on smaller screens - If you're working on a laptop or tablet, the new design feels much more manageable and clean.
  • Makes onboarding smoother - If you’re new to SAP Cloud ALM (or helping someone who is), this change makes it much easier to learn and navigate.

Final Thoughts

This update may not shout for attention, but that’s kind of the point. It quietly improves your experience and makes task management a little more intuitive, a little less frustrating, and a whole lot more efficient.

So next time you open a task, check out the new Relations tab. We think you’ll like how much simpler things feel.

And as always, we love hearing your feedback. it’s what helps us make changes like this in the first place.
