There is magic in first times. The novelty of those moments makes up for most of our core memories. Most people have vivid memories of their first day in school or their first/childhood friend, their first job and their first day at that job or their first pet, among others… These are moments outside the wheel of repetitive days. Alexandra Hofmann, a cloud solution architect at SAP’s Corporate Processes and Information Technology (CPIT), is no stranger to firsts: Despite the scale of the global juggernaut that SAP Sapphire is, it was an ocean that Alexandra was comfortable sailing in; she had her first presentation at SAP Sapphire in Orlando, in June 2024.
“My first time presenting at SAP Sapphire was a fantastic opportunity to experience how and what SAP communicates to our customers and partners, and how all products and topics are linked. For me, it was a great learning opportunity to present in front of many people, not only for my career but also for my personal development,” says Alexandra.
Alexandra started at SAP in 2013 as part of SAP’s dual studies program. Studying internal business administration and information technology and working in different departments in her practical phases prepared her well for her start within the Platform Center of Excellence team in 2016. Since then, Alexandra has been an invaluable part of the team which defines SAP’s internal IT strategy for cloud development within CPIT, starting off as a developer on SAP Business Technology Platform for the Neo environment, conducting HTML5 & Java trainings, designing the architecture of the customer data hub tool, and now focusing on enabling CPIT colleagues through SAP IT cloud developer enablement programs.
Shortly after the SAP Sapphire event, another first came knocking on her door: Alexandra has since delivered two expert sessions on the Inside SAP YouTube series. In Alexandra’s first session she explained how we run SAP Business Technology Platform at scale, utilizing AI capabilities and agile methodologies to optimize operations, increase developer efficiency, and accelerate innovation as a large-scale enterprise. In the ‘Discover How SAP Accelerates Business Using SAP Build Solutions’ session, viewers experienced how SAP’s internal IT team builds apps without writing code, using AI-driven code-development support, automating workflow processes, and designing central business sites unleashing the power of SAP Build solutions.
“Holding the presentation at SAP Sapphire in front of customers and partners was the best way to prepare for the YouTube sessions as the direct feedback afterwards showed how important SAP runs SAP stories are,” says Alexandra.
“Our unit and our SAP runs SAP scenarios serve as frontrunners for our customers on using SAP Business Technology Platform. This is based on our experiences and learnings. Customers can leverage our lessons and apply them to their own cloud setup,” she adds.
Her webcast was preceded by the opening session with Oliver Gutzeit and Christian Freytag’s session on SAP’s cloud business journey’s impact on our Enterprise Architecture. The upcoming sessions will serve interesting insights into AI, about our AI offerings in SAP IT and how we infuse our core business processes with AI, for example, in our HR (Human Resource) area.
“I would definitely do it again because, in my opinion, we as well as our customers and partners can learn a lot from each other, and this offers a platform for great exchange opportunities,” says Alexandra.
