Blog number 35. #35

SAP Cloud ALM continues to evolve as an indispensable tool for managing and monitoring SAP landscapes. The latest updates to Job and Automation Monitoring bring significant enhancements, enabling organizations to efficiently manage automated processes, improve transparency, and streamline operations.

This blog explores these updates in depth, offering insights into how they can empower businesses to optimize their IT operations and adapt to evolving business needs.

I am a firm believer of the fact that Application Lifecycle Management can be a game changer and key player in digital transformation of an organization. Job Monitoring is one of the most important part of operations of any landscape.

Introduction to Job Monitoring in SAP Cloud ALM

In SAP environments, managing scheduled jobs and background tasks across multiple systems can be challenging. SAP Cloud ALM's Job and Automation Monitoring simplifies this by providing a centralized view of all scheduled processes, alerts for failures or delays, and actionable insights to improve operational efficiency.

The recent updates build on this foundation with advanced features such as granular alerting, enhanced notifications, new job types for monitoring, and an intuitive user interface. Let’s dive into the details.

1. Additional Filters in Monitoring

You can now use more filters to further refine the jobs and automations displayed in the Monitoring page. These filters are available in Monitoring  -> Filter  -> Additional Filters.

The following filters are available in Additional Filters:
  • Step/Executable: Filter by the step/executable name of the job or automation.
  • Scheduled by: Filter by the user who has scheduled the job or automation.
  • Executed by: Filter by the user who has executed the job or automation.

 2. More options in Overview cards

You can now perform additional actions from the card in the Overview section, in the Home page.

Select  (more)to perform any of the following actions for that managed component:
  • Edit the configuration
  • Navigate to the monitoring details
  • Navigate to the alerting details

Conclusion:

These two new features will add more depth to job monitoring in SAP Cloud ALM. More filters means it will add another level of reporting and now reporting can be done based on the new filters and it will be easier to find and search a particular job in SAP Cloud ALM.

With addition to new features to the overview page, now Job Monitoring will have more strength to the fact that Job Monitoring can act as the single source of truth for Job Monitoring in Application Lifecycle Management for any managed system.
